We dont assume cole is crap... HE IS! STRIKERS ARE THERE TO SCORE GOALS! Its not about fans being unrealistic its about us being a bit miffed that the likes of swansea have snapped up real goalscoring quality for 2mill n we are enquiring about a non goalscoring "striker" and CMS for 3mill! It does show a distinct lack of ambition.
Im not saying spend massive amounts on a player with huge wages but lets show a little ambition!

then who the hell do you think we were going to get? i don't personally think carlton cole is a great player but i do know he's better than what we've currently got and would fit snuggly into our system.
this is what i don't understand! we have very low funds and a small wage cap, about the only thing we can offer is premier league football at this stage. players need to be bought who will best keep us up, not 'inspire' you.

A little put out at the fact that people like Supers and Beef think they know so much more about norwichs situation than everyone else. It doesnt take a genius to see Cole is crap and that to even inquire about hin shows a lack of ambition. We do not sound like qpr fans as we are asking for quality not just anyone. It is easy to play the sensible "we are looking after our finances and not being stupid" card but at the end of the day if we have a rubbish striker like Cole who doesnt score (what kind of striker doesnt score for gods sake) and end up relegated, we will miss out on a lot of money next season. CMS for 3mill when Michu cost 2mill... Not great business unless he proves he can score at this level.
To be fair, we can't use Michu as a yardstick - he wanted to leave to be with Laudrup and the club needed any money they could get

John Guidetti on loan I'd of liked to of seen us follow up more on Mohammed Abdellaoue.
Yes, I know that because our owners trusted the club in the hands of dickheads who got us into a massive mess that we're still paying off, I don't have short term memory loss like a lot our fans do. Since you're in the know have we looked abroad for forwards with the exception of Abdellaoue?
Do not think the club os a shambles, just think we are in need of a goalscorer because Holt may not reach the heights of last season , jackson is hit and miss and the others are martin and morison. you see, this is why i fear that we have some fans who have no realistic expectations
carlton cole - suddenly, every man and his dog get pissed off because they think he's ****. now think about it. hughton likes to play one man up front - cole is very good at playing up on his own. is he going to score loads of goals? no. what makes anyone think that we can get a striker in who can score loads in the premier league? is he better than morison or martin? yep. its a logical move and if we were to snap him and CMS up we'd have a far greater strike force than we currently have. somehow, i doubt we'll get him or anyone at the moment. i think a loan move is as good as we can hope for.
please, i beg people to think before they start whinging about us approaching players who they assume are crap
Best bit of common sense I have seen on here all day. Does anybody seriously think that Carlton Cole is not a better lone striker than anybody currently on the books?

Again people can't criticize potential "rumours" on this board without us being unrealistic or "wanting Michael Owen". You can't criticize a Norwich player if you're not a season ticket holder. So much arrogance on this board at times.
They are better targets than Carlton Cole within out budget (especially when you think of the wages Carlton Cole will be on). FACT.
I.E Craig Mackail Smith, John Guidetti. I would rather we didn't sign a striker than have Carlton Cole.

What I don't do is covet others players or signings. Swansea are Swansea and they can keep what they've got, don't rate it. Coveting michu is as useful as coveting hazard

They're isn't but there is better potential targets who will cost less. I.E CMS.
This has certainly lightened up a quiet transfer window.
Come on lads chill out, this isn't like you lot at all. Have faith, houghtons a good manager and will recruit good players.
The only downside as mentioned above is that some managers like laudrup will attract the likes of michu whereas houghton may not

Do not necessarily disagree but if they won't come/clubs won't sell/ can't agree personal terms then imo Cole is a better lone striker than anything we have got and, unlike other posters, I would rather have him than nothing at all. One further point - at the moment we have 26 for the 25 man squad. If we buy anybody then 2 have to go but there seems no more activity in the exit door than in the entrance.
