It should be an "easy" draw but look at Leicester last year, another alleged easy game and a game that didn't mean a alot in the history of Norwich or that season and it caused no end of grief.
Would love a good Cup run. We aren't going to win the current league we are in (just a hunch) so why not go for a cup. I don't go along with the "overstretched resources" with cups. We have at least 25 players and a winning mentality and habit is a good one.
i don't think anyone felt leicester at home would be 'easy' - i certainly didn't. they'd spent more on their team than we had! i think we all believed we should get through, but not an easy game
Looking way ahead (way way ahead) the big problem if we were to actually win this cup would mean having to play in the Europa League which nearly did for Stoke last year. No end of games and no reward at the end of it. I still think the big priority is league survival and maybe think about this type of thing in a couple of years when the concept of economic fair play comes in and half of the big teams in Europe and particularly here have gone bust.
But the aftermath from that was horrendous, effectively led to the Morison rumours and drove a wedge through the fans. I was left bemused by the whole situation. All I could say is "it's just a cup game" which just enraged everyone more
i remember it well beefy! talk about an over reaction but as i've said before, we're either absolutely brilliant or utterly hopeless in the eyes of some of our fans. in fact, we're pretty good, but pretty good isn't enough for some, no matter what the circumstances...
The Europa Cup would be a hindrance admittedly but on the other side of the coin, I'm sure it would mean extra decent crowds at Carrow Road. And would we turn down fifth in the league because it would mean the Europa Cup?
An opportunity for some extra revenues, match fitness for our (fringe) players, and subject matter for our collective banter. To be in Europe again would be amazing (as it was last time), and while it brings its problems, it makes the club far more attractive for new players and puts our fine city on the map. Ooo something from the Spurs game would be encouraging.
