"For us the Andy Carrol was a political move that perhaps wasn't going to fall our way, ya know, liverpool gave us 35 million for him so I wish him (smug grin) all the best at West Ham"

Fair play to you getting the price for him but I have to say Alan is showing a little lack of class crowing over the price and admitting there was never a serious attempt to bring him back. Political move, was he trying to pander to the fans by using a good servant to the club as a pawn????

If he was some will say so what but is it the right way to talk about a former player who generated a lot of profit for the club which allowed you to bring in some of the excellent players currently in the team.

I think the politics he is referring to are between Liverpool and Newcastle rather than Newcastle and the fans, the fact Liverpool paid such a big sum to us for him meant that if it came down to it they'd rather not loan him to us as we've ripped them off already, that's all he means by politics.

As i posted on the same thread on the SAFC board <doh>

"I think he was suggesting that Liverpool would never loan him to newcastle, even if the terms were better, for the simple fact it would represent them paying us £35m for the pleasure of him playing for us. I think he was just citing the price as the reason"

I didn't read it like that mate, you have the cash, why take the piss out of them anymore. Since your widow has been a little quiet I think he let the mask slip a little.

Its not taking the piss hes explaining they gave us a **** load of cash for him so they werent prepared to give him back for free <doh>

Fair play, you have not seen the interview though, taking the piss out of Carrol really, which was the point of my post if not very well made...this is not an anti Newcastle post, just saying Alan is not treating a Newcastle lad very well who earned the club a load of cash. I like most mags know he was not worth it but Al is rubbing it in.

I'm sorry but all I hear from Sunderland fans is them bleating bullshit about Pardew, of course he is going to feel smug at the fact we sold Carroll for that price and he's now gone for less. Sorry just don't see the point of this.

You don't see the point of your manager rubbing the face of a Newcastle lad in the **** because Dogleash paid over the odds for him, if Bruce did that to Henderson I would think he was a bit of a dick.....must just be I have more of a sense of honour and decency then you I guess

Ok, you are entilted to your opinion same as me, I really can't be bothered to discuss this pointless debate/article. Oh and please don't judge my sense and honour or decency when you've never met me.

Why is this a pointless debate just because you don't happen to agree with the post. Your quite correct that I can't judge you as I have never met you but I can judge going by your posting on this board. Apparently you think it's ok for a football manager to belittle a former player who has gone for a big fee who has not really made it at his new club even though he was a local lad an brought in loads of cash for the club. I think if Steve Bruce did that to Henderson he would be a dick......do you agree or not

Just seen the interview, and quite frankly don't see where he was smug and wished Carroll good luck.[/QUOTE

You didn't see the massive smug grin, this is not an anti newcastle thread mate, no need to be so defensive

You obviously saw it, in a different way to me but then we support different teams and probably have different opinions on the guy.
