With the possible departure of little Earnie looming, I was thinking about his first spell and his magnificent goals for us. I can remember Razor Ruddock picking him up after being given the run around all afternoon, and laughing as he tried to crush him. I think we beat Swindon that day 3-0' and he retired just after. He also scored a cracking overhead kick against Hartlepool on his debut
(2-2). He also scored a goal in about 15 seconds against Peterborough I think! Shame he seems to be firing blanks this time around...could do with some game time!

There many good goals to admire from Ernie in a city shirt. However my best memory of Ernie was his performance for Wales against Scotland in a 4-1 win.

his international debut against germany in the millenium which we won 1-0 and he scored, that was a great moment for him......

I was there - that's my best memory of him scoring too. Apart from that cracker he stuck in against us when he was playing for Norwich... at I least I think it was Norwich ...)

Go Earnie :)

I think it was actually 4-0 with Earnie getting 3 goals. We were so good, or Scotland so bad, the Welsh fans were shouting 'oleye' when Scotland managed to string more than 2 passes together

I remember a 2-2 draw at home to Bournemouth where he laid the ball on Leo Fortune-West`s head for a cracker, and who then provided one Earnie with one himself. He was better in the lower division! I think he was always too short for the liking of Robson and co!
