Aston Villa have spent a lot considering how little they've accomplished.

Doesn't say lots to be fair, Aston Villa have received a lot of money for player sales, so some of this money spent could be replacing high profile players they have sold. Also interesting Tottenham are so high! They moan relentlessly about how 'Chelski' or 'Chavski' out spend them year upon year upon year, and lets face it they've won a lot in this period! Where as Spurs have won a single league cup! Theyve spent basically the same as Man United, and look what they have to show for their spendings!

Just goes to show, that its all about dealings in the market and not net spend, like Everton, who build very good squads on sales alone!

I don't think that looking at gross spending is that helpful. Net is a far better way of looking at it. If you want the most accurate picture you probably also have to include wages as well. Still, it gets Deloitte's name out there, so it's all good in the end.

You are right on that one. I wonder where Saints are in the wage spending table. Must be bottom five in the Premiership.

For a club their size that is getting to be a dangerous situation.
