don't try to deny that Beckham has not performed well for a number of years, LA offered the lifestyle and the big bucks, as well as a lengthy contract, something he was unlikely to get from many top clubs.

Whooaa!| WHo said he hadn't performed well son? I said his decision was purely driven by a last big pay cheque and his wifes desire to live in LA - Easy eh tiger!

Gerrard has to be respected, he's always said winning trophies with Liverpool is worth 1 million times more than winning them with anyone else. He could have won numerous honours with say Chelsea, but would the medals mean anything to him? I don't think so. They would mean something for a day or so, and then be dumped. But winning medals with the club he's supported his entire life and captained, is worth a hell of a lot more.

Gerrard is genuine as they come in that respect and Gary Neville would come in that bracket too. There has been some and its not just recently, its always been that way, players have regarded clubs as an employer, they've had no real affection for them. Liverpool had it during their dominant period with Kevin Keegan. He was honest in that he said, he was never really a Liverpool fan and found it easy to move on. Ray Clemence was the same.

However there is bull****tters like Wayne Rooney, one minute he's ''once a blue, always a blue'' the next minute he's kissing a Manchester United crest. If he leaves them, he'll do the same thing at the next club he joins, which if reports are to be believed may be sooner than he thinks.

Me, he hasn't been good, effective, dominating(call it what you want) since around 2005! Take away his merchandise pull and he would have slipped down the leagues.

Bigger picture ... I'd rather live in LA training in the sunshine and raising my kids in decent schools.
You are aware that the British education system is rated higher than that of the USA. And that Stevie G is not shy of a bob or two. So I think he can afford to send his kids to any school he wants, there are some pretty damm decent private schools in and around the Merseyside area.

Local loyalty and a love for his club is what will mark Gerrard as one of Liverpool's all time greats. Rather than a scumbag like Owen who has taken the pay check every time and has unworthy winners medals

You're wasting your time trying to reason with him Roger.

He cant comprehend that Gerrard is a multi-millionaire and can give his children a life and an education to be proud of within the confines of Merseyside.

A couple of months ago when you were boring me and Bluff to death with your much repeated story of you getting a coaching badge and training kids teams in the States(yawn), i told that like you i used to also live in Texas(Houston 3 yrs), iv'e also been to San Antonio(your ex home), Dallas, Austin, South Padre island, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, NY and NJ as well as all around western europe.

Back to Gerrard, you obviously haven't saw his palatial home or the fine schools in the area in which he lives, i'm not putting down the way of life in America or it's education system, you're are putting down the British education system and the British way of life.

It's horses for courses lad.
