Dear oh dear - if straw clutching was an olympic sport you'd have absolutely nailed it. Do you work for the British Government? "We used to be a force to be reckoned with but now the country's in the gutter and won't ever recover - still, look at all our wonderful pomp and pageantry - we do it a lot better than China even if they are going to be ruling us all in 5 years time and we'll never, ever achieve anything of note again."
Don't show your ignorance. Anyone will even a modicum of football knowledge knows that during the 30's 40's & 50's Chelsea were one of if not the biggest supported club in the country setting attendances records. Sure it dropped off but don't kid yourself that we are or ever were a small club.
Can we keep this thread on topic, please? I'm not interested in discussing Chavs (we do that on our "Rivals" thread). This thread is not about a rival, it is about 'Pool and the Mousers. So, only comments, news, and discussion points regarding 'Pool and/or Mousers, please.
A few Liverpool fans have been banging on about how they're the most famous, best and biggest club in the world - everyone knows about the Kop and you'll never walk alone etc. and a few liverpool season ticket holders are documented as healing the terminally ill and establishing world peace. If we assume that all that is true, can anyone explain why they're not in the draw for the champions league please?
Nice analogy. I see them more like Belgium - dreaming of the days when they had an empire which, when all was said and done, wasn't really that important in the big scheme of things and now turning in on themselves as everything they touch turns bad.
Time for them to bust out the Cilla Black vinyls and dance on the streets, they have scraped a draw at home against a Scottish premier league team. Be very afraid top four...
They'll be talking about this epic European night for years to come. The day they ground out a draw against Scotland's 5th best side will be up there with the League Cup final where they took on arguably the second best team in Wales and matched them for 120 minutes.
You've got a thing about attendances...this should cheer you up http://www.theshedend.com/topic/19495-our-support/ ... 40's??? over half were occupied by something called WW2! ... Just accept you're a bunch of johnny come lately's who curiously have the same 'address' problem as the Goons!
I'm wondering if the DVD will be out in time for Xmas? It would make a nice stocking-filler for any Mouser. Along with a copy of "Jimmy Tarbuck's Greatest Golfing Anecdotes."
I hate to burst your bubble...no I don't and I knew someone would be stupid enough to challenge it so here it is: http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/Attendances/0,,10794~634907,00.html Do you see the top 10 "Highest Attendances" ? Can you see these? 82,905 Chelsea v Arsenal 12/10/1935 77,696 Chelsea v Blackpool 16/10/1948 75,952 Chelsea v Arsenal 09/10/1937 75,043 Chelsea v Wolves 09/04/1954 So that's 4 of the top 10 league gates and they occur in the 30's,40's and 50's. Please feel free to continue though I didn't see you on that list, not even as the away team
it comes to something when someone think's that having big crowds in th 40's and 50's,makes their club a big club.
