Yeah it's been speculated Phillips was a smokescreen for the Ramirez deal. I hope so, because it upset Holloway, which is what football is really all about.

Haha! On your point though, why is there a need for a club to smokescreen in the first place? Surely Saints could have done without the 'tapping' up claim?

More likely to me is that Phillips was one of a number of wingers we made enquiries (have I spelt that right?) about. Probably including several that we will never find out about. But I am pretty certain he would have cost too much now, particularly as we are in the last week of the window.

I would agree but all reports (including Peach, reporting direct from Adkins) say we lodged a number of bids which were ignored, which is a significant step on from enquiries (I'm sure it's spelt like that but Chrome tells me otherwise - but then it also tries to correct 'spelt'.)
