Figure of speech, you get me?

I get the meaning, I just don't understand why you used it. I certainly don't feel like I'm having a keyboard battle.

If Bates goes, I'll expect it to be over 30k on average (depending on new owners' intent). If not, around 22/23k.

If you can sell 28,000 for Burnley, then surely you can sell that much every week. Unless of course the boycotters had a day off that day.

I used it because 'ammo' was a convenient way for me to express your exploiting past cup crowds to convey doubts about the existence of a boycott which is clearly ongoing. This military metaphor was then extended to encompass the entire discussion, since both are adversarial engagements which have victors and victims.

Comprende?

Nah, I think that's about our ceiling under Bates. You've got to bear in mind that people have to save up to go to Leeds games; they can't turn up every week. Hence why there are only around 8,000 season ticket holders. Bates' business plan is to sting both the hardcore fan and the casual one. Bleed everyone dry. We have around a million fans in the UK, and possibly more than that worldwide, but relatively few of them are enticed to come to Elland Road as it stands. There's a reason for that. Our Chairman has killed the appeal.

I'm not saying a lot of boycotters are consciously saying (as I am) that they'll refuse to ever watch us at home or put money into the club until our captor departs, but they reach the same conclusion as other boycotters by simply using their common sense to see what a raw deal Whites fans are getting, and opting out themselves.

So to answer your question in short: no. I don't think it's fair to say a Bates-run Leeds can sustain crowds of above 28,000.

I wasn't at the game, you'll have to ask someone like You Will Beat Kisnorbo or Boggers on our board who did go :)

Probably be around on tomorrow's Morning All thread.

Great win for your boys tonight, obviously the Leeds United old boys are starting to work their magic! How did the three star signings play?

:emoticon-0140-rofl: Hilarious. We want a big club in the next round not some mediocre team making up the numbers.

You canaries have really missed the point haven't you?

Thats funny, because we play big clubs every week.

And they genuinely are big clubs, not half arsed concoctions of self obsessed brief former glories mixed with the over spending with a budget akin to the real big clubs that can afford it.

You're in the poor house because you thought you were big.

You're not.

But how long for?

Obviously not a football fan if you've just dismissed Leeds United with such a ridiculous comment.

No, we are in the poor house because of bad management, nothing to do with how big we are or thought we were.

We are and always will be bigger than tiny little backward Norwich City. Ipswich have more history than you.

Could we possibly use this as the official thread to rub it in whenever Snoddy, Howson or Johnson do something awesome

Feel free, i'll be checking their progress. Can't see it getting much use if you're posting when something awesome happens, it's Norwich we're talking about here.
