Right On The Button

Hooray, we've got ourselves a new keeper. must be better than Hamer and certainly better than Sullivan.

 

I don't think Hamer's done too badly this year, a lot better *touch wood* this year then he was last year. I think button's been signed to keep Hamer on his toes and make him realise number 1 spot is not guaranteed.

 

I am not pleased really with him, yes we needed a goalie, but we have spent money on goalie when we could have surely picked one up on a free transfer and use the money spent on Button to purchase better outfield players would have been my preference.

 

Hamer has been our best player this season by a mile. I hope Button's arrival doesn't signal his departure.

Hamer has been much improved this year so far, superb in fact. Brum commentary mentioned he's had laser eye surgery this summer.

I don't mind having 2 equally competitive players at each position, but Keeper is complicated to keep them happy

 

I heard the laser eye surgery thing but I questioned it when on saturday mid way through the first half Hamer ran to Roberts about something with his eye, I thought maybe it was a contact or something. Could have been an eye lash I suppose... that sounded really girly

 

Yeah I saw that, looked to me like he was getting some solution for his eyes, I wear lenses myself and sometimes you can just blink and they'll come out of place, especially with rain.

 

I don't for the life of me see all this critcism of Hamer, his 2 reaction saves at the end ensured Charlton earned a point so it all seems unnecessary and unfair.

 

I don't think he's had any criticism this season. Last season, for sure. I think even he would admit he didn't have the greatest of times during certain periods.

 

I'm a bit surprised, for one thing Hamer is our most improved player this season and for another thing I reckon Pope is a terrific prospect, so considering that we have a squad of 44 players another goalie seems a bit extra.
On the subject of squad size I was a surprised also to hear the Doctor say that when Taylor got injured that was why he signed Dervite, because we need 4 central defenders. Doesn't Mambo, who has just been given a new contract, count? I suppose at least we're doing our bit for unemployment.
