We'll be low in confidence, but it's no crisis yet... ...we'll have to take on a strong Wolves side, but we are at home... ...we'll have Bellamy back no doubt, but he looks uninspired... ...we are low in the table, but that is unusual territory for us... ...we need a rethink, and a good win... ...overr to you Malky,
I think it is a crisis. Just look how bad we were (in different ways) against both Huddersfield and the Wurzels.
a crisis!! fking hell u sure ......football fans hey who needs em ever heard of a book called the secret iggy?.....methinks you should read it dude
I don't think it's a crisis. A bad start, yes, a crisis, no. We have the majority of last season's squad (those we wanted anyway) with a number of additions that add depth and quality. A few of the squad are recent arivals and the balance of the team looks wrong but can be addressed. We also look to be lacking cover at the back (a full back or two). Squad wise, we are in a better position than we have been for a long time. There are still 43 games to go and you don't win the league in August. If we haven't shown signs of improvement by the end of September, then we can start asking whether we are in crisis.
I got lambasted a few times last season for questioning MM tactics and style of play, what we have been getting for the last year is pretty dire stuff, we will grind out results but at the moment and certainly the back end of last year, we certainly werent getting entertainment. However give it 5 or 6 games and see if it gets better, but 1 up top isnt working and we have to create more chances. Otherwise the atmosphere at the stadium will worsten and for all of us who were at the Huddersfield game the atmosphere was dreadful, and the reason for that was the lack of excitement.
Definitely agree. Other posters are trying to present people who have this view as fickle - I'm not, I was complaining last year about our style of play and the general lack of entertainment. We were dull, we are still dull.
Ive been watch the City for well over 40 years, i was talking to a guy i know who had been going for over 60 years, and he reckons and so do i, there is little or no direction on the field and there are people playing out of position (whitts) and others who dont get the tactics. Sort it out MM otherwise i may be having a couple of bob on him being gone before Xmas.
It's a tough one to comment on especially as I get to very few games so don't fork out the money most of you guys do. However, would you settle for a dull style of play thta gets us promoted or an entertaining styleof play that leaves us mid table? It would be good to have both, but it may be one or the other unfortunately. We can but hope though.
I for one want entertainment for my money, if that brings success then great, but whats on offer now is not acceptable.
Sounds like we need Holloway - then we'd have it on and off the pitch...... Early days, but let's hope the present apparent inflexibility shown my Malky doesn't turn into the dogmatism that became evident with DJ. As far as expressing opinions as to "crisis"/"no crisis" is concerned, fans (supporters) follow their clubs and watch the games with different agendas. No point in criticising someone who demonstrates a greater intensity towards a result based view as opposed who someone who just wants to watch a game of football with his mates. Both views have equal merit.
I think that might be money well spent, as I can't see the Malaysians showing a lot of patience after the money he's been given to spend (far in excess of anything DJ ever had to spend over a season). Whereas the local media lost patience with DJ and some fans then followed their lead, I think the fans are more likely to lose patience with Malky first (partly due to the more conservative style of play we have had to put up with).
In reality I just want to win - for me that forms a big part of the entertainment. 1 - 0 up and backs to the wall to protect the lead - that gets as much applause at the end as a 4 - 0 win - and more people staying on with the result in doubt. If we got promoted but were not regarded as an expansive, entertaining side, then is this face bothered? However, I have been around long enough to know that what we will get will fall somewhere in between and that it will also take a few games for everyone to settle in, hence my lack of panic. Go back a few seasons when we started off like a train, Chopra scoring for fun and then it all slowly went sour. Surely we all remember how we felt then? Give the new guys time to fit in, bond and everyone understand each other then we are in a better position to judge - and criticise.
Bit early to be pushing the panic button. Let's wait to see how we are doing after 10 games. New players need time to gel and we don't have carling cup games for that to happen this season so they all need game time in the league matches. Agree with the idea that our owners will not be the most patient of people.
10 games may be to far. if we are not on the shirttails after 10 games then it will be difficult to claw back, i know Reading had a fantastic run of results last year, but in this Division that is a total one off. We need to be there or thereabouts all the time or it could become serious.
Not the norm but not a one off. Remember Sunderland about 6 years ago, not far off the bottom at half way, then promoted. I don't recall Blackpool being up with the leaders most of the season 3 years ago but they came through as we well know. I believe that as long as we stay top 10 we will be well capable of going on a charge second half. Mind you I have continued concerns about the ages of some of those signed especially when I see Baldock going to Bristol and Lansbury to Forest. Bright young players with bags of energy. Will our 30+ guys have the legs at the end of a long, hard season?
that sounds like the outlook of a plastic fan, not saying you are, but a real fan doesnt go to a stadium to be entertained, more to be part of the crowd and cheer the team on. entertainment is always a plus but for me i love going home from a match we've won, even if its the ugliest win in the world. i want entertainment if i am watching real madrid vs barcelona on tv, not when i watch my team play.
Well what are you saying then, i would hazard a guess that i have been a SUPPORTER (NOT FAN) for a lot longer than you, and the point i am trying to put across is the action on the pitch is dire at the moment, yes i like hard fought wins, yes i like us hammering people, i dont mind us getting beat by the better team either, but one thing i can assure you is this. I am not a Plastic fan and for you to insinuate that in your round about horrible little way is insulting to say the least.
Lads! We all want different things from a game and we all see the game differently. A fan is a fan no matter how long they have been going, how many games they attend and how much they cheer or groan. Sparkey's last comment earlier was spot on.
i meant what i said: 'that sounds like the outlook of a plastic fan, not saying you are' emphasis on that bit that you seem to have missed. as i said before, if you go to matches purely to be entertained, then in my eyes you are more of a customer than a fan. read things through before jumping to conclusions.
