Boring Bank Holiday and nowt to do, so I went along to Church Road to watch them against Frickley Athletic. I quite enjoyed it actually but it was like a sad testimony to the failure of our academy in the past, and I counted some 5 or 6 former City Juniors in the line-up. Hell's bells, even the Frickley keeper was a 'product' of our Centre of Excellence! Still, as I say good entertainment and Ferriby won 4 - 0 to boot.

As a side issue, Gary Bradshaw is now past his best, but how did we ever allow this 'kid' (as he obviously was), to have his career ruined by bad influences around the club at the time. He still stood out out head and shoulders from anyone else on the park today, and was only a 40 minute cameo as well.

Word has it he's a proper tool.
 
Didn't he get a short term deal back in the league with Cheltenham some seasons ago and got himself sent off in his first game.. that was just about his last chance .. a talented player though who like many others wasted it.
 
He s far from a tool he s a great bloke and was a very good young player. At Newcastle he was keeping Amiobi out of the youth team he was offered a contract but was desperately homesick and signed for City.
He was probably the most exciting forward from the COE in recent years unfortunately he ended up drinking on Marina with Gary Alexender and a few others and Taylor got rid big shame.
Russ Fry also down there remember Taylor getting him England u19s caps and expecting big things he played a couple of 1st team games got injured and that was that.

Maybe I should know better and only comment about people I've met in person.

My comment was based on the fact he was a total prick when my mate played against him, allegedly.

Saying that my mate could be lying but I don't see why he would?

I remember seeing him out drinking a lot at that time and thinking he was being badly influenced, thats why I hated it when Bullard was at the club and was allegedly a bad influence on some of the younger players
 
I'm not doubting your mate he probably was a twat on the pitch I think most people change when playing football.

A lot of people do change their behaviour on a football pitch but some things you would struggle to defend.

If my memory serves me right this is pretty much how my pal said it went;

BRADSHAW - " You're ****, you can't play football. You're ****" he then laughed at my mate every time he mis controlled the ball or made a bad pass.

It may have been a ploy to get to my pal and make him feel about two foot tall and that does happen.

My mate responded by telling him that he knew he was **** and if Bradshaw was so good why was he playing at National Ave indoor soccer centre with /against a bunch of numpties and not for a pro team.

It pretty much did the trick.

That happens all the time in football. My team-mates and I used to have opposition players say that to us all the time even in Sunday League, and we weren't that poor. I never bothered with that kind of crap. I'd just grab someone's bollocks à la Vinnie Jones, or kick them in the shins.
 
I know it happens all the time but you'd think an ex pro would have a bit more about him than to carry on like that.

Especially when everyone knew he was. He was apparently in a totally different class to anyone on the pitch so really had no need to mock other lads having a knock about.

Just my opinion old son.
 
I agree he could of acted with a bit more class but I'm sure if you've played there is does get a bit daft and most players are trying to smash you against the wall especially if you can play a bit.
It's more like Ice hockey in trainers on there!
 
The thing is the lad in question is built like a twig and really wouldn't say boo to a goose.

If Bradders had have tried that on with some of the other lads in that team he'd have found himself being filled in in the car park.

Either that or he'd have been nutted into unconsciousness on the pitch.

I'm quite surprised he wasn't to be honest.
 
Quite a blast from the past reading this thread. I think he used to live not far from me, I remember everyone always whispering about him playing for Newcastle when he went past, I used to see him on Gower park I think. I cant really recall if he was an ok lad, but his brother on the other hand was a proper pikey. Just drove around Boothferry picking up girls way to young for him all day.

I agree, it was our goalkeeper that used to do it to us.
