If it is co-ownership then the FA or premier league will block it. It's completely illegal in England. Sorry to buster everyone's bubble.

@sridout92 @dimarziotweet @officialsaints means that,while days ago Saints supposed to take 100%,now they'll go in co-ownership w/ Penarol
Is that allowed in England?
We had a Uruguayan friend, his name escapes me. In any case, he reports on Penarol and said they'd accepted an offer from us.
But maybe what we're now doing is withdrawing that bid, and giving that money to Bologna to boost their net profit? Whilst then not actually buying the 30% and only owning 70% of the player.
Therefore we get the player, meet Bologna's requirements and don't actually pay any more than we were going to.
Might be wrong though.
Well he's his own reporter, but he is the senior reporter for Sky Italia.
Also being reported by Tancredi Palmeri, who broke the deal, of Gazetta Dello Sport and ESPN.
Was it not reported that a bid/agreement had already been sorted with Penarol? And like eluded to already, Cortese wouldn't sort out a deal illegal in England.
It has been clarified that Penarol's 30% ownership will now become a 30% sell on clause for any future transfer as part of the deal to take Gaston Ramirez to Southampton.
Genius.
Great work from Cortese. We clearly don't have all the cash here and now. The £40-£50 million earned this season is paid over installments to us and following the Pompey fiasco I doubt banks will lend against future income. So to balance our books still and renegotiate with Penarol is a great move. Shows that his old club have great faith in him to do well in the premier league and get a bigger sale in the future.
