I remember a specific quote from him saying his family were Sunderland fans, but as a young boy he was a Newcastle fan.

But we kicked him out of our academy and he threw a paddy, and went to Boro. That's why he celebrated like a twat when he scored against us a couple of seasons ago.

He used to be a Newcastle fan, but I guess he hates us now, oh well lol.

Should make the derby all the more interesting.

Matchwinner Adam Johnson said:

"I wasn't a Sunderland fan, I was at Newcastle and supported them as a kid. It's extra special to score against my old team but I play for City now, so that's all that counts.
"It's one of the best goals I've scored- It's my first in the league here and it's nice that it was the winner. It's always the plan when you're a sub to come on and try to make a difference. I did that. If we're going to do well this season, we need to grind out results."

Once a mag always a mag (if he does well for us I will forget about it)

He has connections to all 3 north east teams (released from the mags as a youngin, played for Boro and now with SAFC) but all his family are Sunderland fans so i think that's where his true loyalty is.

Even a tweet from him here saying he loves the toon -

Hmmmm, didn't think he would celebrate like that like he hates us, then come out and say he loves the toon.

Its funny but i remember all the hullabaloo about Don Hutchinson being a mag and all the craas giving it large about his roots.

However, when he scored in the derby against you he went ****ing mental. Showed his true colours as will AJ and he will be able to celebrate it with all his Sunderland fanatical family as well.

Dream on Tash but if it makes you feel better thinking it, you fill ya boots kidda.
