Is Simpson kept from a start because SB has to justify the price paid for Proschwitz?

Sure - Prozzy seems to be getting up to speed, match by match, but we need goals. And Simmo appears to be more likely to score (though Aluko is only just missing getting on the scoresheet).
 
Perhaps, but that's football management for you.

Every signing is a gamble.

I've only seen him in the flesh once, so hard to make any sort of assessment, but he looks to me like he needs to toughen up and get his head in places where it might hurt. I would say that Steve Bruce is particularly well-qualified to make that point to him.

I'd play Simpson up front with Prozzy. With Aluko on the right. If Simpson had the chances Aluko missed today then it might have been a different outcome

I think we'll only see that at home matches, it looks like 3-2-3-2/ 5-3-2 is going to be the formation away from home.

It's more of a 5-3-2 though isn't it?

Rosenior and Dudgeon are hardly midfielders and whilst I didn't see today's game, they didn't play much further up than normal at all at Blackburn.
 
You have got to give him time. In fairness to him apart from Fryatt all your strikers are pretty pathetic in this league. Once Matty is fit and them 2 start a few games together then maybe you will see some return from Proschwitz
 
I'm hoping Simpson and Proschwitz start the next game.

We've got to give Prossy a more time to settle in. We should be playing balls to feet.

Our major problem today was an inability to cross the ball past the first man.

Since we've ploughed £2.6m into buying Proschwitz, I see no other option but to persevere and make sure we get what we paid out for.

There are glimpses, and I think it could just as simple as him being a foreign larker getting used to the English game.

Although tall, he's not strong. He's not a target man. It's like he's a bit misunderstood.

He was top scorer for his last two teams in Germany, who I believe were in the 2nd tier. He must have something.

He's surrounded by totally new players, and Aluko obviously is settling in himself.

Fryatt would be his natural partner, and unfortunately injured, so things aren't ideal.

It's a case of perseverance, persistence and patience for me.

To drop him like a stone now would make a mockery of the fee paid, and the efforts made to bring him here in the first place.

You can't just abandon your staff.
 
This is reminding me of when Leeds signed McCormack. At first he wasn't doing much (and then got injured for a little bit) then in the second half of the season (April 30th 2011 against Burnley) he got his first goal. He got another in the following game which was the final game of the season. In the season after that he bagged another 18 or so goals and scoring consistently.
