nah Chelsea winning an atrocious CL final after an awful season but pushing Spurs out of the CL in the process was bigger
You Mousers are very brave even attempting to fight back. I'll give you that. Perhaps what one of you should do is start a "Mighty Spurs Watch" thread on the Mouser board. I seriously doubt, however, that it will be as popular as this thread. You see, we're not as funny as you lot. You are pure comedy gold. Thank you, for that.
I don't know, you spurs fans are pretty hilarious, I particularly enjoy the way you think 3 so-so years and a flash in the pan stint in the CL gives you grounds to mock the legendary LFC
They do have a point, though, don't they? The worst thing for Brendan Rodgers and you Mousers must be the possibility that Swansea will finish above you this season. I think there is a good chance of that, too. Swansea was a good side before BR came in. He'll find it harder to get the 'Pool players to bend to his will, because (a) they are not playing the Swansea way (Swansea were, when BR took over), and (b) the likes of Skrtle and Gerrard won't like being told what to do by a Championship manager. Sure, things are okay at the moment - although I cannot imagine that anyone at 'Pool is overjoyed at being trounced by WBA - but the mood will quickly sour after 5 games, when you have no points on the board, and are sat at the bottom of the table.
we were playing european football when you mousers were still in the 2nd division, plus were not mocking LFC,just thier delusional fans
Well we have quite a few players willing to adapt/already adapted: Borini, Assaidi, Allen, Agger, Johnson, Enrique and those with quality to adapt to whatever: Lucas, Suarez We aren't reliant on players like Henderson, Carragher, Downing, Carroll at all and Gerrard will have to show he can adapt too and as for Skrtel, he just signed a new contract when City were in for him a month ago, so I'm sure he's happy with things as they are
@totsfan I used to admire 'Pool, as many of us on this board used to. In the 70s and 80s, 'Pool was a club to be admired and feared, in equal measure. They were a re-assuring presence in Europe, and a valiant foe in domestic cup competitions, and Anfield was always a joyous place for any team to visit. But all of that has gone now, and all we are left with is a mockery of what used to be. The hard-core-dyed-in-the-wool Mouser is now an embittered shell of the "Jimmy Tarbuck/Tom O'Connor" wise-cracking comdian that we all used to love, and the plastics who jumped on the band-waggon in the 90s and 00's are self-deluding imbeciles. "O! Look upon the Mouser, ye gods of Hope, and know that thine fruits have turned rancid!" I don't know if that is a real quote from the Bible, but it should be.
Rage? Absolutely not! Delight. Wonder. Amusement. Astonishment. Those are words that might describe how I feel about 'Pool in the 21st Century. Not rage. I don't think I've ever felt that about anything, and certainly not a game.
21st century eh? so a century that so far has given us 2 FA cups, 1 UEFA cup, 3 league cups, 1 European Trophy and another CL final. Not the best start to the century admittedly, but not bad nonetheless.
In the same period, United have won the following honours: 6 EPL titles, 1 FA Cup, 3 league cups, 5 Charity Shields, 1 European Cup, and they've had 2 League & Cup Doubles. I won't mention the times that they have been runners-up, as I believe that would be taking the humiliation too far (and I am not a cruel man). The only reason I mention United in this thread is because you Mousers still consider yourselves to be United's main rivals, when clearly you are not. Yes, once upon a time you were rivals, but that was in the 70s and 80s, and little bit perhaps in the 90s.
they will always be our historic rivals but there is no doubt that we challenge for different things. My argument has been that you have won next next to nothing over the last few years apart from the "finishing above LFC cup" and even in our "decline" have hauled more trophies than entire clubs have in their lifetimes and even a European Trophy, which until last year not one London club had even one to their name.
we were the first British club to win a european trophy,it was'nt the European cup.so your statement is wrong,as you claim no London club had a european trophy.
The purpose of this thread is to counteract the Mousers' cry of "look what we did, way back in the dim and distant past - aren't we a great team!" by holding up the mirror for you to see that things are different, now. Your cry, in the here-and-now, should be, "look how far we have fallen - let's be thankful that we're still in the EPL, even if we are, at best, a top-of-mid-table club." This thread is as much my gift to you, the Mousers, as it is a source of comedy entertainment for non-Mousers.
I know exactly what this thread is HIAG, which is why I don't bite. I understand where our club is, I've never seen us bask in the glory tha some of the older weathered fans have. The CL win and a couple of FA cups have been nice along the way though but I can't see us winning the league anytime soon. I can laugh at myself as well as my own club, which is why I never bring out the history card because it is always going to be a losing battle. Will we finish 4th? No chance. Will we finish above you? I say no. But i have no idea what you will be like under AVB, same with us under BR.
Liverpool are the biggest has beens in football, yes once upon a time they were the most successful club around (as their hoards of glory supporters keep reminding us) and won titles just about every season, but that was a very long time ago in the distant past. These days, they are a lower top half club at best, the extra 10 or 12 points a season they receive from sentimental Klanfield refereeing and closet glory supporting mouser referees only makes them look better than they actually are. Take away 12 points at the end of a season and you will see the mousers true level. The Mousers are going no where fast under their Yankee owners and particularly Roy Rodgers, bad times ahead imo.
