I have decided we need a rival watch thread so i have somewhere to comment when city ect are playing. I see Chelsea are playing Reading tomorrow i only see them winning that, going with a 2-0.
Good idea so thanks for making the thread, We can use this thread for talking about our rivals when they play so this way, the board does not get clogged up with non United related threads.
I'm quite interested to see how their new players perform. I fully expect Chelsea to win, I hope they rest Mata and play Hazard and Oscar from the start so that we can get an idea of what they are capable of... EDIT: and Torres better get a hattrick, he's the captain in my Fantasy league team
I am baffled why the chavs are not being rated as potential title winners. The so called pundits are saying City and United are way too far ahead, in terms of first team quality and squad depth. I don't see it that way. They are European league champions (Ok, lucky but we all need a bit of luck!) and they have reinforced with Oscar and hazard. If Torres comes good, they could be there or thereabouts. Anybody got any good rational explanation why they are not rated as potential premiership champions?
http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/160830-New-Season-New-Start I think its mainly because of how terrible their league campaign was last year, even after AVB left. The football they played in the champions league wont get them anywhere in the PL so i'm not convinced. I won't argue they've made good signings though.
They have lost their best ever player and signed some inexperienced kids ( PL wise ) and are trying to adapt to a brand new system.
Their manager! With Chelseas previous history, at the first sign of trouble RDM will get the sack or the players will start trying to take over things like they did with AVB. Most of their goal scoring ability will be reliant on Torres and he hasn't don't much to prove he can do that at Chelsea.
History shows that you don't come from being also rans to winning the title the following season. Pretty sure that since the PL began the winner has always finished in the top three the previous season. Chelsea have signed promising players, but Drogba is a massive loss and it will probably take time for the new players to bed in. When you add that to a new manager, who is very inexperienced and won only half the league matches he managed last year, it doesn't add up to a convincing title challenge. And whilst they did beat Wigan, it was hardly a convincing or dominant victory. Chelsea will need to put in some strong performances in the first half of the season if they are to convince most people they will challenge.
yeah Reading were pretty good defensively vs Stoke and conceded a freak goal and Chelsea were not that good vs wigan lets be honest so who knows
