Not sure how you know that he's been shafted by AVB. I ain't AVB's biggest fan so am not about to defend him. However for all we know he had an honest discussion with Dawson about needing to blood Caulker more and that Kaboul and Vertongen were going to be his first choice. I like Dawson but there is no way he'll be a bench warmer (to his credit) so he could have said he'd like the chance to play regular first team football.
I hope this is what happened because Dawson came as we went from dross to a regular top 5/6 team and deserves a lot of respect from the club. Unfortunately for him his recent injuries and our record of a crocked captain that we were dependant on in defence means that we have bought in other options.
nothing against Bassong but he was very unreliable when ever he turned out for us...started of well but seemed to lose his way. Hope that he gets it together as he seemed like he had a lot of potential.
With that in mind I reckon Dawson is the better player.

You have a huge squad of mainly average squad players aside from your starting 11 and now you're spending 5.5 - 9 million on a talented and great guy BUT he is injury prone, its a stupid move but I hope it goes well for Dawson as he is a top lad and I rather he stayed.

Well said. I must say I'm very upset about this. More about footie being all about the money and not enough about the soul. You need players in your team who the fans particularly identify with, who don't seem just to be "passing through", being there on a temporary basis until their next transfer. Players who play in the right way, don't complain and so on. Over and above that Dawson is a proper Captain, there are few of them about. I can't speak highly enough of the man. So there may be a business case to be made, but actually I would suggest its quite marginal. It strengthens QPR quite a lot and we lose a very good player, leader and apparently a genuinely good guy... and IMHO we take one more step toward losing our soul. Even Chelski has Terry, when even if you loathe him you've got to commend the fact that he and the club are one. I felt the same about Dawson.
he's not a great manager but can't deny his talent as a player. Plus he's a Chelsea fan too so he's fine with me
What has his talent as a player got to do with his management? yes he was a fantastic player but as a manager he shows arrogance which doesn't fit his actual ability.

I agree but if he is not going to be in the team, and I don't think he would be, then giving him the option of leaving is surely the righ thing to do?
Pace is not the only requirement here, and it is possibly a flawed tactic if that is going to be the main requirement of our "new style" defence. The contribution a defender makes is more like "pace x awareness" where awareness can often substitute for any amount of pace in a defender who is tactically unaware. The problem of less pacy defenders is that once in a while they are going to be shown up by fast attacker and when that happens its going to look bad and its going to be memorable. Beware however taking only those examples into consideration. Much more difficult to assess, because its not quite as obvious is when defenders lose the people they're marking, or are simply in the wrong place when defending set pieces for example. All this talk about the high line and lack of pace etc is taking away from the equally, probably more, important contribution of defenders from set pieces and when the ball isn't being carried forward at pace, actually where more goals are scored from. So pace isn't the be all and end all. You could argue that a solid defender and experienced leader is more important.
I think if you look at some of the other players he brought in to Man City have done okay: Kompany,Nigel de Jong,Gareth Barry,Kolo Touré and of course Emmanuel Adebayor who funny enough Spurs have just bought? oops forgot about him did you maybe he can join the Bellamy and Bridge list?

I'm sorry to see Dawson go, but if he's the one who has pushed for it, then I can understand. All in all, we couldn't turn down £9m for him.

Kompany, great signing.
Toure? Got a lengthy ban for drug abuse and is behind Kompany and Lescott in the pecking order.
de Jong is back up to Barry and Yaya Toure.
Barry's a decent midfielder. Solid. Nothing special. Paid a pretty penny for him though.
Adebayor's his best ever signing, meant we got him on loan one season and then paid just £5m for his transfer

Yet he couldn't even get them to finish above us and clearly Adebayor was good but way overpriced. Give a kid £100mill to spend on Champ Man and he'd end up signing some good players too so it's no surprise Hughes bought some good players, the problem was he got **** all out of his squad. The fact that he bought some **** players too(Santa Cruz is another) was just funny.

Hughes paid £16m for de Jong, even though he would've been available for less than £4m that summer. Hardly a genius in the transfer market, is he?
