Gaston Ramirez back on Liverpool and Spurs radar.
Liverpool and Tottenham have been boosted in the race for Bologna winger Gaston Ramirez with his proposed move to Southampton on the brink of collapse.
Gaston Ramirez, Southampton.Uruguay international Gaston Ramirez was set to complete a £11.8million move to Southampton

Ramirez had announced last week that he was on the cusp of a surprise move to the Premier League new boys, who had reportedly agreed terms on a £12 million deal with Serie A club Bologna.

But the Italians have since denied that a fee has been agreed, and although Ramirez has been given permission to talk to Southampton over a move, the two clubs are struggling to find a compromise on terms.

Saints boss Nigel Adkins is willing to hand over up to £15 million for the 21-year-old, but Bologna feel he is worth closer to £18 million, and are aware that Liverpool and Tottenham are both hovering with significant interest.

The Reds have been chasing Ramirez all summer, but have also failed to agree a fee, while Tottenham had reached an agreement last month only for the player to snub a move over wage demands.

However, with his move to Southampton on the verge of collapse, both Spurs and the Reds are preparing new offers in a bid to land the highly-rated Uruguayan wideman.

It is thought that Ramirez favours a move to Liverpool over the other options, but will accept any move to the Premier League in a bid to ramp up his development and boost his wage packet.

Metro are a pile of ****e, no offence to them of course.

I'll believe it when he's holding the shirt (of which club!?)... he seems like our never ending pursuit of Mata, Silva etc under Rafa. All media.

I can't keep track, one minute we are interested, then he seemingly signs for Saints. We then hear from a number of posters that we were never in for him, and if we were he only chose Saints for the money, now we are back in for him, surely meaning we were always interested? There seems to be a number of defensive reds fans on this forum.

Clueless is the word you're looking for, and not in a derogative way <ok>

Gaston Ramirez will not be joining Premier League newcomers Southampton from Bologna, his agent has said.
On Friday, Ramirez, 28, told Gazzetta dello Sport that he was ready to move to the South Coast in what would have been a major coup for the Saints.
Uruguay international Ramirez, who was part of his country's Olympic squad, told the paper: "They believe in me in every way... and above all I have said that they are going to grow.
"Southampton is a newly promoted team in the English top flight, but they have the means to stand tall in a few years. And with me they are going to build. It's all very stimulating. Even if it is a little strange."
But his agent, Oscar Betancourt, said talks with the Saints had broken down and poured cold water on speculation that Ramirez could instead head to Liverpool or Tottenham.

Doesn't share an agent with Aqua does he? <whistle>

just realised,

quite worrying if that 28 figure is the age he is supposed to be, as he is 21, as it makes you wonder what else they have wrong.

glad we got rid of Aquas agent, what a tool he was! every ruddy transfer window.

did LFC offer gaston ramirez any contract? I do not know?

We know before comolli was sacked he was interested but after that point we really don't know.

so.... best of luck to southampton on this and the season as a whole. St mary's and le tiss' team deserve to be back up and i hope they stay up playing good football.

don't think we ever offered him a contract.

might have met with his agent, but think that is all we did.

Ignore that kid, look at his latest posts. They all relate to Juventus disaster and generally that theme.

I know, go to the bias thread, he tried it there but no one really bit, no he is trying here. Useless.
