I could be wrong but nobody on here I know of said Lamps is up to the job and needs a new contract. I think we all now accept his limitations and the fact he will be playing a deeper role with less playing time.

I think most people agree a striker is as essential if not more so than a RB or decent back up GK.

My choice would be Cavani or Schurle at the right price. I genuinely don't see the point in Hulk unless we play him as a CF, we are overloaded with attacking midfielders and wingers. We barely have space for Ramires and Mata, our best two players last season.

I've not seen much of Jovetic so can't comment but Cavani is a pipe dream now City are involved

you were definitely insinuating it otherwise you'd have no problem wouldn't you? Frank still has the quality to add something to our team. end of.

Yes he does but not in the central role he is currently being used in. Everyone can see we need someone there with speed of pass to make best use of the front 4.

Personally I think Lampard is more important now than he ever was 3 or 4 years ago. Without Ramires, Mikel and Lampard we risk becoming a team of show ponies with no steel, grit or tactical intelligence. In essence we just become a Blue Arsenal.

I'm not one of those Chelsea fans that believes the entire club revolves around JT and Lampard but his experience and intelligence on and off the ball is second to none.

Big season for him and Hazard who I feel we will be over reliant on without another striker

The show ponies will not be able to show anything until we get someone in the middle who can feed them.

I don't see why Lampard can't do that job, he has been one of the top assistors in the game and although his influence has declined his eye for a pass hasn't.

Modric was my ideal player for that role but isn't realistic

If you haven't seen why in the last 2 games then there is no chance you ever will.

The front 4 are all quick speedy and Lamps slows it down, lets the defense get back and they lose half their value. Wigan figured it out quick enough and had someone go to him as soon as he got the ball and guess what, little service to the front 4.

Arturo Vidal would be my player of choice for a midfielder IF we get rid of; Benayoun, Essien, Meireles and Malouda.

Tottaly disagree, it's was only a few games ago that lamps sent a triffic quick pass through to Ramires to run onto and score a fantastic goal that got us to the CL final ffs (what a short memory some people have<doh>)!!!!!! Lampard's got plenty more in the tank don't you worry bout that, his vision and experience is vital at the mo especialy with all these new young players that have come in

I'd most like to see Hulk of the strikers mentioned. Built for the P.L and can be played on the right hand side off Torres or through the middle if need be.

However I thought Torres/Sturridge/Lukaku fighting for one spot was ideal so with Lukaku out on loan maybe we need to be more conservative and loan/buy a back up rather than a glamour signing. Hernandez as above is a good shout as still young and down the pecking order at United. What about Santa Cruz? Is he still on City's books? Or Adebayor if he lowered his wage demands. All have prem experience and would cost a fraction of the 30-40 millions being mooted for Hulk etc. Really though it should have been Ba for 7 million when we had the chance!

    Agreed.

Oscar and Josh are surely the long term replacements for Lampard so I don't really see the merit of spending 30 million plus on a Modric now.
