Another tweet from the Bologna journalist says one of the reasons Bologna are so keen to calm Cortese's boner for installments is because they got a bit duped on installments in the deal for Pablo Osvaldo a couple of years back and want to make sure it doesn't happen again... can't really blame them.

Shame we are being judged by someone else's mess up!

And they should know that nothing can calm Cortese's boner when it comes to money...

Standard Italian negotiation tactics. They have a top player, courted by large clubs across Europe.

They will keep walking away and coming back. They need the funds. They will try and push us right until the deadline and milk us for every last penny.

Cortese just needs to hold his nerve. He who blinks first etc.

They will release media reports saying it is dead to force him to blink, and panic. They want to panic us.

It's an attempt to flush out other suitors, like "this is your time, bid now and you are the sole party trying to purchase".

Then they will come back to us and tell us of the other offer, to start an auction.

They need to sell, and will sell.

Cortese, I am sure, knows the game too well.

If we don't buy then as disappointed as I'll be, I'll trust Cortese. It's a large amount of money and if he feels it would be unsustainable to pay in the installments they want, I'd rather miss out than do a Portsmouth.

Man who broke the story, Palmeri - has said Spurs are close to signing attacking midfielder Miralem Pjanic from Roma.

Would kill any pursuit of Ramirez.

What a great signing that would be. De Rossi and Pjanic leaving would be huge for Roma.

How nice does it feel to have complete trust in a chairman. We know Cortese will not allow himself to be drawn into a deal which could harm the club in the future yet we also know he's ambitious and desperate to signal our intent to push up a level. We're lucky to have him.

Could be Saints or nothing then! To be honest Ramirez has made it clear he wants to leave, Bologna have taken a clear stance by putting him in the reserves, removing squad number etc. So it may be best for all parties to come to an agreement.

It's only a matter of time tbh. He will be leaving that's for sure. It's simply about the installments now. Fact is we are one of bologna last options now. They will be desperate to sell but also get as much as possible. Got a feeling that we will pull this one off. Cortese knows what he is doing, one of the best negotiators in the game.

I think this deal will eventually go through. Cortese is a stubborn ****er and he will stand his ground, after all Ramirez has said he wants to come to us.

Gaston Ramirez is in the UK and has been in talks with Saints. He popped out for a Calippo from Tesco Express in Shirley #saintsfc

Quality information now!

Bologna might only have one option left which is similar to the Italian tanks in the war, reverse only.
The Dons probably got them down to 2 million, give him another week and they will be paying him to take Ramirez off there hands.

What's the weather like in Southampton at the moment? Am guessing it's hot if he went for a Calippo. Hope it stays like that for a few days - these South Americans are notoriously weather-sensitive. Don't want him to change his mind.
