A couple of CH quotes taken from "Rick Waghorn" - My Football Writer CH is quoted as saying - "You canât come here and be an open and offensive team and not expect to concede,â How can that be described as being open and offensive, when we mustered approx 6 attempts on goal and only 2 of them on target!!!! âOur tactic coming here was to make it difficult for them, but also have a threat going forward ourselves,â Hughton told reporters. âAnd itâs tough to get that balance â but in that balance you have got to make sure that youâre not conceding what I would consider are soft goals.â Yes, they were soft goals, but I watched the game against Borussia Monchengladbach and not much seems to have changed. IMO, if he wants to play a lone striker then 1. That striker needs a good supply of balls coming in from the wings/passing, not long balls over the top 2. Any striker other GH - please!!!! Let's just hope wrongs can be put to right at Colney over the next few days, or else it is going to be a LONG HARD season!!! The full article can be found here - http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...ts-back-to-basics-at-colney-as-city-re-group/ Awaits backlash!!
What I dont understand, we have roughly 10 midfielders and 8 of those are attack minded. Within those 2 our new recruits yet he wants to play defensively!? 3 season's of attack attack attack brought us success, were a team full of talented attacking players so why on earth didnt he play to our strengths! If we had defended and managed to get a 0-0 draw then that would be an excuse but when you line up to defend an entire game and you get spanked 5-0 that's when I'm going to get concerend. As early as it is, if we lose next week and he carries on playing GH on his own upfront then alarm bells will be ringning already.
Personally, there is nothing we can do, I've moved on. I think we all should. We can all play manager and there is nothing wrong with that but it's all about the players/staff reaction and we just need to get behind them. I do think if we have a repeat performance than that's when we should be slightly worried, if that won't give them a kick up the arse, what will?
No backlash just note it will be a long hard season and if we survive it next season will be the same this is the PL do anything wrong and you get stuffed
This is a hard league - Fulham are a good side. Tactically and technically we were well off and deserved our thumping. As much as I hate to say it but this Saturday's game takes on the significance of a 6 pointer and it is important we get it right and don't repeat the mistakes of last Saturday. QPR looked as bad as us (that's not saying much is it) on MOTD and they too will be looking to rebound so it wil be a hard game. Let's all get behind the lads on Saturday and cheer them to victory. OTBC.
Exactly what I said on another thread. I'll be at CR cheering our team on and hope I'm sure that the 'TRUE' fans will be doing likewise!! (No doubt there will be a small minority who start booing if we don't play well!!)
In all seriousness though guys, surely you should be looking to get soemthing from Fulham and not going down such a negative route. If like he said you can't expect to do that at Fulham, that really narrows it down on what you can expect on your travels. so from what he says he is only really going to go for it in probably what 3 away games this season! scary stuff for you.
Please don't ever come here again claiming you know anything about football Guru, if you really believe this statement then you really have no idea about what you are talking about I thought what little credibility you had left was gone following your pathetic wum attempts today but this tops the lot.
fulham have lost just 7 home games in two years. they are a very, very good side who finished 9th last year and have been top half for 3 of the last 4 years. they have reached a uefa cup final in the past three years too. to say 'we should look to get something at fulham' is fine but it is not to be expected - most teams come away with nothing.
If we all went on 1p5wuch site every time they had a bad result there would have to be 25 hours in a day!! I will be there cheering us on and if we don't beat QPR I will not moan we are not a top 7 side who are virtually guaranteed PL footie we are in the bottom half of this division and like the rest stand a 3 in 10 chance of the drop every year it will always be tough
Sorry to have to pick you up on this again, but I'm afraid I am of the strong belief that your argument in this case is complete bollocks. Are you really saying we should be going to Fulham 'expecting to lose'? It appears that you are and what kind of mentality is that to take into a game against a team who finished just a couple of places and a handful of points above us last year? Yes they have a fantastic home record and it was always going to be tough, but they're not Barcelona for heaven's sake (though we did make them look like it admittedly!) When I look at the fixtures at the start of the season there are games I automatically write off, such as home and away against City, United, Arsenal, Chelsea and possibly Spurs, and then of the remaining games there are clearly those where we have a fairly decent chance of success and others where we know it will be tough but if we play to our best and they had an off day then you never know, we might be able to pick something up. For me Fulham definitely comes into the latter category. I've not read anyone saying we'd just need to turn up to win, and I've not even seen anyone saying we "should" have won. However I stand 100% behind the fact we should have gone to the Cottage looking to take something from the game, and I'm afraid I don't quite understand the mentality of anyone who so vehementally disputes this as nonsense. Guru, this doesn't happen very often but I'm with you on this one chap
No, I am saying I do not expect to win at Fulham and traveling fans of MOST teams should not EXPECT to win there either, please let's not go there again
i think had we got a point from craven cottage that would have been deemed an excellent result. i think we all could see that from the outset, that was what we went looking for. to be fair, first 25 minutes we were very comfortable, we could easily have taken the lead had surman taken his great chance, and i felt a point was not out of the question. it wasn't until ruddy made that slip that we went from looking perfectly solid to a nervous wreck. it then snowballed into one gigantic mess.
But what you fail to see is that there is a huge difference between "looking" to do something and "expecting" it, nobody anywhere has said they were expecting us to win so why you feel the need to get on your high-horse about this I am not quite sure. I'm sorry but the mistake lies with you here for taking things out of context so why should I sit back and let you stomp your feet and shout at people, accusing them of saying things they haven't when it is in fact you who is taking it in the entirely the wrong way?
I will disagree with you and anyone (barring maybe fans from the top 6 clubs) who thinks we should be looking to get something out of this particular game. 9 times out of 10 Norwich will, in all probability lose, if you cannot see that then I am banging my head against a brick wall, same applies for Man City away - Wins there are exceedingly rare. These types of games, and indeed most away games in the PL, I do not think to myself, we can win this of even we should be looking to win this. Looking to win expresses more than just a desire when it comes to fans, yes it applies to the players but not fans. When fans go around openly expressing that Norwich SHOULD be looking to win "these" games I hang my head in shame because, as fans, we simply should not - yes, I truly believe that.
in my opinion, norwich should go into EVERY game with a plan to either win or at the very least get a point. not sure what there is to disagree with that! we did that on saturday - we went for a point, it didn't work, but we were trying to get a result. even against the likes of united and citeh we should go with a plan to get a point or even try and win. that's not weird in any way - it might not work, but you still go there with that thought of a result in mind. i felt we were capable of getting a result at craven cottage, despite it not being a happy hunting ground and they possess some good players and a very good home record. i never expect a result against anyone, but i do often think we are capable of getting something from most games
Playing devil's advocate a little, but the general concensus I've picked up from City fans is "we should be looking to take something" from games such as this - barring the top 6/7, as stated above where any point is an early xmas present. I don't think many on here "expected us to win on Saturday".
Really, I'm at a bit of a loss with this thread, When I went to Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, last season I went as a fan not expecting to win, but hoping deep down that we might. There are many, many games when the "better" side does not win. Take Utd -Norwich last season, we didn't go as a team expecting to lose, we went as a side with a plan about how to get a result and it very nearly worked, defend deeply and look to break. The team knows how it needs to play to get a result and if the players in the side aren't expecting/looking to get a result then what the **** is the point in turning up?
