So our 5th EPL season kicks off very soon. Being a bit of a pessimist I think we could well lose 1-0 or 2-0 today. Our away form is normally very poor and Reading will be up for this one. I also note the Pavel 'whatshisname' scored against us at Craven Cottage last season. What chance he will do so again? Of course I will be delighted with a Stoke victory but I am not confident.
Not confident a defeat cud mean pulis gets his arse in gear and changes things well im hoping. We are startin pretty much the same team as last season when will he learn are centre mid is ****e. Give bloody ness a go see what he can do at this level. Fingers crossed but not expectin much
I see today being a struggle, especially has we have exactly the same team as last year - except for kightly! Whitehead & Whelan as our CM's and Walters upfront in our 5th season is quite frankly embarassing.
Same old, same old ..... No Palacios, No Jerome, No Pennant (injured!), Wilson at LB ..... never mind TP is still hoping to sign Owen!!!
Well we are 1 up so that's a positive - doesn't sound like we are playing particularly well against the promoted championship team. Knightly sounds quite lively, but Pennant often was. Hope we get into it a bit more as the game goes on - I reckon Delap will be on early into the 2nd half.
Groundhog day it's is then! Don't finish with our wingers, can't sub Walters and sit back with poor possession.
Well done mr pulis for ****ting away 3 points. When yer comfortable in a game with the score one nil instead of goin for a second take off yer wingers and wait for a **** up. Suprised it took till the 89 minute for it to happen. Is it any wonder we dont score goals when yer to **** scared to attack. Well done to the away following great as usual. Good luck to reading for the rest of the season
I would have settled for a draw before the match, it's the nature of the equaliser that P***ed me off.
We were fortunate to be 1-0 up, the Reading keeper made an absolute howler! The stats really say it all, they are ultimatley a championship team (a very good one) yet we were only able to get 40% possession and 6 shots (3 on target) - ironically we were running at about 35% prior to the sending off?
Same old, same old.S**t substitutions, panic last ditch defending, and where are the goals going to come from??? Today we were gifted a goal, and without it we would have lost to one of the poorest teams in the league. It`s going to be a season of torment and I think I`ll take a leaf out of Stokies book and not listen to the radio because it`s torture. We know whats coming ,poor passing ,Delap comes on as sub.concede a late goal or goals. The one bright point is that Kightly seems a decent acquisition, but I wonder for how long before he too gets demoralised by being subbed whlist being our best playerEmoticon 0101 Sadsmile
I did watch the game Joe at the Black Lion in Trent Vale with a few more regular ST holders.. We NEVER looked like conceding tbh and WTF WHY,WHY feckin WHY did Kightly have to be SUBBED TONY? By a country mile our BEST player and Reading looked like they will struggle this season. Fortunate yes with our goal but he feckin HO PULIS.. we score, we are in NO danger of conceding BUT you bring off Kightly F F SAKE. NEVER has ONE man single handedly ****** me OFF so many times. GROW some balls Mr Pulis or even better just leave the TEAM well alone in future. Good luck to Reading but I fear they too are in for a really hard season, on today's showing. US? WITH the RIGHT player's in the RIGHT places we'll be OK. Only ONE problem for me is PULIS he will never learn will he. Well and truly ****** OF like you Joe. And PS Whitehead should have been DRAGGED OFF not sent OFF Tony, it was always going to happen. ONE bonus today is that he will not be available for the Arsenal game.. let's hope that Rory's arms fall off and we re-jig the midfield too! Rant over.
Well Potts I have to agree that it was disappointing not to get all three points. Most on here did not attend today, quite understand given the crap served up away from. I could not understand why Whelan & Kightly were subbed. Quite right Whitehead should have been subbed given he had been booked in the first half and there were a couple of other times when he pushed his luck not to got booked again. After Stoke scored with a gift goal they were in charge. We had more of the ball and I would suggest that we had around 52% of possession in the game. Reading only had shots on target right in the last 10 minutes TBH. Kightly was by far the best player and why he was subbed was ridulous. Now come on all calm down. I have heard that Cameron was magic in the game against Mexico so let's be positive and hope he takes over from Whithead next week and secrews Wengers tippy tappy little angels. I was gobsmacked the team I put on some 10 days ago played with the exception of Huth who I did not think play given meningitis and Pennant's injury Kightly played and well above expectation did he! Now slag me off but I will try and see the positives and you who know me know that! Let's move forward we could have easily lost today with a newly promoted club up for it and 86 degrees of heat. Will be up next week nice and early!
Cris Well given your views on the game, at least I now know that I watched the same game!! Well done the Stoke fans who forked out hard earned cash, I salute you all. Yep, I'm still seething Cris because I think you know like me, we had that game in the bag? and TP AGAIN went belly up. Those subs just invited Reading to have a go at us and they did that. The plus sides... Kightly looked really good on the ball and off it. Solid defence and IF ONLY our midfield got sorted. I'm sure we'll be OK. Shudda, Cudda been 3pts and I would have settled for that before hand Cris. Still feels like we lost though.. Bring on Arsenal next Sunday!
I could have written that myself ,Potts,Spot on!! I also have to respect your views Tenterden because I know you are a true fan who travels everywhere with the team and you have cheered me up a little with your positive outlook.Personally I still can`t see where the goals are going to come from but, heyho, roll on Arsenal!!
Joe My glass is always half full mate Re the goals? I think we're OK. Kightly, Crouch, Jerome, Walters did OK today too! it's the creating of chances we need to improve on IMO.
It was as we all expected, exactly the same as last season.........................**** tactics, **** negative manager and **** to watch. Im just glad we got a point out of it. Thats all I can say really, the only positive was Kightly but he was taken off for some stupid reason, also Delap will figure heavily this season too by the looks of it. WTF is he doing with Palacious?, Whitehead is absolute muck and not fit lace Palacious boots. If Whitehead is a premiership football then im going in the garage and getting my boots out. Im not rying to be negative lads, just trying to be honest.
Fair play to you mate for staying positive, for me the Team and manager have to earn our positivity back after a woeful end to last season and a poor performance yesterday.
Ric Agreed the performance was'nt that good IMO either but.. It's all about we're whinging as to WHY does TP **** UP when we're looking good for 3pts?? Happens time and again Ric. THAT is what's even now hacking me off mate! Then I saw MOTD QPR wt hell? Norwich same.. Villa? we're better (with the right player's than any of those) Someone just needs to tell PULIS, he's a bellend and nowt will change my oppinion on that! If it's working and or winning you do not bring off your best player. PS get those boots polished Ric
TP listen you need 2 midfielders who can pass and a striker who can score, not sicknote Owen. Once you have these then get a pair of full backs change the way SCFC play to a passing game...... do this 6th EPL season. dont do this and you will be playing Leeds
