    I personally think Douglas is one of the best centre backs in Europe and at 24 he is of the right age.

    I'm interested in this potential other signing a similar magnitude. And also if Phillips would be signed as well as Ramirez or we were bidding for him as Ramirez was a long shot?

    Well we don't know the budget I suppose, if the group making the decisions on transfers were told they had what they felt was required to keep us up then great. Plenty left for hopefully Buttner + CB/s.

    Anyone else think that maybe, just maybe, we made an official bid for Phillips due to the "tapping up" accusation.

    That way if they reject our offer we walk away and insist we did nothing wrong rather than, them outing it to the press and us suddenly disappearing from the radar.

    I still think we may want both.

    Looks like Ajax want to swap Buttner for Theo Janssen

    ARNHEM - Alexander Buttner said surprised by the news of Vitesse Sport 1 that he immediately swapped for Ajax and Theo Janssen than the other way round may take. The deal would take place according to the pay station with no exchange.

    i was on the Liverpool Ramirez thread earlier, all of them convinced we could not out bid them, that he would never turn them down for us and the usual "where have Southampton got the money from" rubbish. all very deluded
