Britain's Musical Heritage and no decent ****ing rock music? <grr>
Didn't watch it, so it's going to be a little difficult to suggest that I really give a crap, but the focus was exactly the same one that we see in Cowell's load of ****e.
Pop, pop, a bit more pop and a little bit more pop.
Dominates the airwaves and media, so that some rich ****s can churn out more **** and get richer.

    Britain's musical heritage.

Black Sabbath, The Smiths, Iron Maiden, Leftfield, Portishead and Buzzcocks must've been Albanian...

I'd like to thank... er, nobody.
Fuck the lot of ya! <laugh>

I'd continue the list, but it'd be almost endless.
Who's more of an icon: Lemmy or David Beckham's dopey missus? <doh>
Sadly, the answer's probably not the one that I'd like it to be.

Lemmy is more of an icon than Wand Erection.

  7. Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here' was the song and the album cover of the same name had a photo of 2 besuited men shaking hands as one self-ignited. Guess the organisers thought a mannequin better on H&S grounds..........

I generally enjoy the Olympics, but this might have been the best ever.

Great credit to whomever thought to add a sense of humor to the opening ceremonies. Nothing could have set GB or her games apart better.

On the other hand, agreed that the failure to use the greatest British music is a bit of a crime... Imagine a closing ceremony with "Black Sabbath, The Smiths, Iron Maiden, Leftfield, Portishead and Buzzcocks." It would have been absolutely awe-inspiring.

As to the games, lots of fantastic events as usual. I have to agree that the smaller sports tended to be more enjoyable, and deserve more coverage. I think I might have been happiest watching skeet shooting, with its collection of people intent on excellence for no reason other than love of sport and hope of glory...

Great performance for GB overall, and for the US also. I enjoy the big events and the big US wins while hating all the hype surrounding them. But I have to say that while NBC sucked, most of the big performers as a general rule were perfectly pleasant, or at least pleasant enough, including Bolt, Phelps and Farah. Footballers could learn something from them.

Aha! That is if you took off the black plastic wrap. I never have done with my 12" copy, just slit the end and took the record out. However I understand that that is the photo underneath (allegedly) ;-) I never thought much of it but there was a documentary on the making of that album and somebody being interviewed was talking about people who never took off the wrap. I think he called them "very clever people"... or perhaps it was something more derogatory....

  12. No-one likes a smart arse, Vim!!! Lol
Sad to say I have a fair collection of Prog vinyl and WYWH is one of my favs. Pity Gilmour and Waters couldn't turn out for the Closing Ceremony. Maybe the Organisers thought the animosity between them might spoil the atmosphere. Or maybe the Gilmour family had an Olympic ASBO after the sons Cenotaph incident......
