I thought it was about time we debated the thorny subject of Kieran Richardson. I have admired this guy since he first appeared for Manchester United and was chuffed to bits when we managed to sign him.
As we know, the main problem with him is his lack of consistency. I know he has had more than his fair share of injuries which won't be helping, but I think the problem may be related to of all things, his versatility.
Yes, having a versatile player on the books is always handy when the injuries mount up, but must surely hinder the the ability of the player to gain the same consistency that a player who plays the same position, week in, week out has.
A subject that regularly comes up on our board is the left side of the pitch. Most of you will remember that Kieran was a left winger for Manchester United and during a very successful season long loan at WBA. The guy was fantastic for the Baggies in that position, but in my opinion has not been given a long enough period of time in that position to make it his own at our club.
He's played left back, left wing, central midfield and up front in his time with us. Do you think, as I do, that he may benefit from the stability of a fixed position? After all, he did look a better player when he had a lengthly spell as our left back.
Your thoughts please guys and gals.....
