Have I missed something? I haven't heard of any announcement regarding squad numbers for this season, and with only days to go before the league kicks off, it seems that it's later than usual this year. Any news, anyone?

If neither Rodellega or Petric takes the vacant number 9, would that suggest that another reasonably high profile signing is planned? Or would it just mean that I spend too much time pondering this kind of thing when I should be working?

Ask, Captain, and ye shall receive!

Fulham 2012/13 squad numbers

Most interesting is that Petric has taken 10, with Kasami being given 8 instead. Senderos takes no. 4, with Sidwell now wearing no. 7. We haven't anyone in no. 9 yet.

EDIT: These were published approximately 25 minutes after the Captain's post... maybe they read this forum?

And the No. 9 has been left vacant - significant? I wondered also if there was significance in moving Senderos from No. 14 to No. 4 ??

Good to see young Smith being added but sad not to see Grygera - unless it's got something to do with him not yet having a contract; presumably we can add at any time.

Looking back at the earlier "25-man Squad" thread, I reckon that means we will be lodging (if there are no more ins and outs) a 23-man squad with the Premier League. That's based on a total of 29 players listed here and 8 being U21.

So there is obviously room for at least 2 more (4 if you include Somogyi and Halliche). The current picture is

* Not Home Grown *Home Grown *U21

Goalkeepers..Defenders..Midfielders..Forwards

Schwarzer.......Riise..........Dembele......Petric
Somogyi..........Hangeland..Diarra.........Rodallega
Stockdale........Reither...............Ruiz.......

I think we all agree that the Club has progressed in the last decade. How do you think today's squad would get on playing against this one from2002/03 ?

2. Steve Finnan......... 22. Luis Boa Morte
3. Rufus Brevett........ 23. Sean Davis

6. Junichi Inamoto........ 26.
7. Steve Marlet............ 27.
8. Lee Clark................. 28.

I think that squad cottager epitomises the club's progress over the last decade. While there were some fine players in that squad e.g Van der Sar, Finnan, Boa Morte, Steed to name a few, now we have the luxury of not being solely reliant on our big names. I'd love Dempsey and Dembele to stay long term obviously, but we are resilient enough to cope without them. Afterall, 18 months ago Bobby Zamora was still the main man here and we've done fine without him and I'm sure the same will be the case for Murphy too. In sum, I reckon our current 2nd best possible XI would be very close against our best XI from 2002/2003.
