Everton now have 7 players for next season, you get the feeling that this year is the year they go down. Kenwright's determination to be the "big I am" with not money, is taking the club down.

Even Mancini had a dig..."He is a good, young player. It will be the first time he is at a club that plays to win - it will be different for him," City boss Roberto Mancini said.

That was a bit nasty by Bobby. If Rafa said something like that he would have been hung from the nearest tree.

City are filling the homegrown slots - Barry won't last much longer, Johnson may be leaving and Hargreaves is gone.

Hargreaves wasn't homegrown, being born in Canada and raised in Germany. I do think for his career he should have stayed at Everton for a few more years. He's hardly played much football recently due to injuries and he's hardly going to get much game time this year with Silva/Toure/De Jong & Barry all competing in CM.

Oh, I thought he counted due to participation with the England national side.

I dont think this is such a good move for Rodwell. I think he would have been better off at United, Spurs or Arsenal, though I dont know if they were actually in for him.

It is part of the circle of life that every decent young Everton player has to move to Manchester eventually.

Nope. To qualify as home grown, a player will have had to be registered for at least three seasons at an English or Welsh club between the ages of 16 and 21. That is why players like Fabregas was considered homegrown as he spent 3 years at Arsenal between 16-19 however Hargreaves (although eligible to play for England) isn't.

No, you have to been trained/played in England, Scotland or Wales (not sure about NI) for at least 3 years before the age of 21 to be counted as home grown.
Hargreaves spent his entire junior career in Germany, which means he was counted as German home grown.

Scotland isn't included in that I don't think. I think its only England and Wales. Gael Clichy is one of Manchester Citys home-grown players as he spent time at Arsenal between the ages of 18-21. Brad Jones at Liverpool comes into this too even though he's Australian.

Only messing, not a bad deal for around £12million but the point is City won't ever get the value for money, because they won't use him. For £12m (Rising to £17million with add ons) he would be much better utilised at Arsenal, United or Spurs (Maybe even Liverpool before we signed Allen)

He's only worth about ten million at the most at the moment so we've got a great deal, will never be the player we expected.

As for Mancini, perhaps he should check into those 5 defeats we've given to them in out last six meetings.
