Karl Oyston, Blackpool's chairman, was just on TalkSport.

He confirmed it is Southampton that he's reported for an illegal approach, as well as an agent.

Transcript of the interview with Oyston on talkSPORT:

"We've reported a club and an agent, I'm not saying which club."
"Is it Southampton?"
"I'm not saying which club it was, but we've reported a club and an agent."
"It's being reported that its Southampton you've reported though, is that correct?"
"I'm not saying which club......oh it's going to come out anyway. Yes, it's southampton we've reported, and an agent."

Although someone on SaintsWeb says "To be fair he did at the end insinuate it was more the fault of the agent than the club."

On another note, if we get him, Phillips is another from the Championship Team of the Year.

I had a look on tinterweb and transfermarkt site say his value is £2.2m.

Think they're right to sell him, he's never reached his potential for various reasons and maybe he never will now. Not to mention he only plays half a season due to injuries. I bet they're still getting a fortune for him though.

Everton could use the money but it's a pity to see something like this which will surely stall his development. Unless he does the right thing and glues himself to Yaya Toure in training to learn all he can.

As time passes and it become obvious that not everyone is going to get bought by a top four club, agents will start looking for clubs for their clients. This may be when our interest will be taken more seriously. No point in getting precious about it, Saints may get some players for whom we weren't first choice but they will still play their hearts out.

I'd imagine Phillips would not be cheap, somewhere between 5-7 million, maybe more. The reason I think this is that Holloway has been talking about him as the next big thing for quite awhile now, so clearly rates him as one of their best players. Blackpool also were very sensible with the PL money they got from their short time in the league, plus the parachute payments they are receiving mean that they probably do not need to sell to buy, and they weren't a million miles away from getting promoted last year, so any club would have to pay a premium to get their best players.

This is obviously all just guess work by me and could be miles off

They were 1 game away from getting promoted! That's very close to getting promoted.

Exactly which is another reason why their better players will cost more as the team they have has proved that it is good enough to finish in the play offs at least.
