Hi canary_max, and thank you.. Yeh, been reading these boards for a little while and thought I should sign up. I am indeed in Fleet, Hampshire so its good to see our region represented on here! I have a (rich) friend who lives in Wokingham
And this is why I like athletes more than footballers: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/athletics/19202411 How can anyone run 200m on a broken leg?
Yeah, and they only just got beaten by the bahamas. I was there. I had no idea that he had broken his leg. A jamaican in the same event pulled up due to a pulled muscle.
I know what you mean, but I sort of meant in the variety of events we have gained medals as well Shooting, Athletics, Cycling, Rowing, Slalom, Boxing quite a broad range for a smallish country. You still might be right though.
But that is us Brits. We do take part in everything. We will try it and give it our best shot. I think that may well be one of the reasons we sometimes spread ourselves too thin in all aspects of life. Why did you climb that mountain? Because it was there!
And have you heard the stupid noises coming out of the BeffinBeffinCee that the British news reporters and commentators have been too patriotic! So from now on we have to cheer for the opposition! Some knob on the Radio is talking about striking a balance! FFS!!!!!!
BOLLOCKS to that, this is our time, our country, our Olympic games, and we've delivered it in the most extrodinary way. We as a nation are a bit reserved a bit understated sometimes, but we've done a fantastic job, not only the coverage, the athletes but the support of the nation. To stand in that stadium with 80,000 cheering flag waving looneys was a experience of a life time. Am I Patrioic? YES, overly Patrioic? YES, am I proud of that, to ****ing right I am!!! ILD OTBC
What a day I had yesterday! It was brilliant! The brit in the decathlon had to pull out because of injury but that didn't ruin it. The pole vault and discus were boring but I loved the whole day. The stadium is great but isn't suitable for football, with or without a running track. Got excited when I saw Pistorius the first person to enter the olympics with no legs. But unfortunately he didn't run as the Kenyans and South Africans had a collision before he could run. Also interesting to discover one of the Americans broke his leg with 200m to go and they came second when a Jamaican pulled up due to a muscle injury and couldn't finish.
Why is it, when they excel at practically everything else, that the Germans are not very good. Considering the size and population of Germany they should do much better IMO
Since drug testing came in,Russia,Germany and most Eastern European countries have not done particularly well. Just a coincidence ???
anyone watch the BMX? that was great entertainment. shame for the brits. the men go very fast round that track
Thats exactly why I think if we had the population America and China had we would win the Olympics, in my opinion anyway.
At the next Olympics, to save some time, they're going to merge some of the events. First up will be dressage and fencing, hereafter known as jousting
Can anyone believe our mens 4 x 100m relay team didn't complete the course AGAIN!!??..Its not a lollipp or a bar of soap..it's a big flaming baton! I'm going to the athletics tomorrow night and I feel royally robbed of the joy/pain of cheering them to defeat!
At least you'll (hopefully) get to see Mo completing an historic double!! Very jealous my friend, very jealous indeed!
