I understand all the anger and annoyance but I can only survive being a Sunderland fan by trying to find the positives, would have slit my wrists years ago looking at the downside.

If we lose on Saturday I will be very down so dont see the need to be down before the day.

one of the reasons i'm optimistic is, i'm now watching a full re-run of the game (maybe a glutton for punishment), but i'm even more baffled as to how we got beat.

gary birtles the match commentator is as baffled as us,

qoutes "sunderland have played some cracking stuff, they really have"

"you've got to wonder how sunderland are losing the game"

but there is one thing that he said that makes you wonder.........

as the camera focuses on snq he said, "if that man was on the pitch sunderland would not be losing the game"

if anyone gets the chance watch the whole game again, play like that and a bit of luck in front of goal, we were good, very good, and should not be afraid of ANY of the remaining games..

Couldnt watch the match over here, hammered instead, didnt want to know the result, so I could watch it on MOTD, but a prat in the pub told me the result,
hence the getting hammered part, when I got home was only fit for the sofa, but still opyomistic of maintaining prem status next season. For the SUNDERLAND supporters its always next season.

I was a Brum match with my old man and overall it was much better than what we have seen in the last 3 months. But its still not what I would call vintage! Birmingham are not exactly Barcelona- in fact I thought they were poor and although we created chances (at last!) we still didn't win and that tells us a lot about where we are right now. Before Christmas we wouldn't have been happy about a 2-0 defeat to Brum just because we ran about a bit more. Saying all of that I would like to remain optimistic. I can envisage a few draws at least in the next few games and that should be enough for us to limp over the line with a couple of games to go. Blackpool and West Ham are almost down now in my view and it would be a tragedy if we were the third team. So much would have to go against us for that to happen. Its not impossible we'll be relegated, but its certainly improbable I reckon.

I'm sure you make a thread like this every time you've lost in your bad run of form. You have impressively persistent optimism cyprussydsafc, I'll give you that.
