I always thought we looked unbalanced last year when he and Surman played together and with Surman signing an extended contract it could be the end for Wes.I hope not as he can be unplayable on his day and there's far more positives to Wes than negatives but I guess if we have to trim the squad then it may be his time.

I could not disagree more, the partnership between Hoolahan and Surman was exceptional, I only commented on about it last week on how good I think they are.

I don't for one minute think Hoolahan is going, Hughtons not stupid.
 
Emnes has an awful goal scoring record! We need a goalscorer not a handful! Someone who converts chances created by the likes of snodgrass, hoolahan, bennett, pilks, howson and butterfield etc. As has been said holt will do well but lacks the suprise element now, moro will no doubt chip in, jackson needa to add goals and vaughan needs to.stay fit! C.Martin needs to be sold and we need to replace him with (someone already said) our own Papiss Cisse (but for under £10m... Under £7m!). Also need a LB and DM :-)
 
I think Lambert didn't play Hoolahan well last year, I think it suits him to play deeper where he doesn't become so isolated and cornered in. I think he has such a tough job and any mistake you make gets picked up easily because he automatically should keep the ball as well as being the creative spark in the team. It's difficult job for him and will always be more open to criticism because of that. I think play him deeper when he can have someone around him.

I think he must stay in my opinion.

Emnes would be a strange one, he has bags of pace but not great at finishing. Not much different to Jackson, wouldn't make sense in my opinion. Don't rate him.

Davies would be solid and great signing.

The comment about Hoolahan is the exact one I have made many times, over and over. He has the hardest job in the team by far. The people who groan when Hoolahan gives the ball away (I'd have them all shot) just do not get it.

I agree, I remember you saying it before and I agreed. I do think Lambert didn't help him out at time, I think he can be more effective playing slightly deeper. But again he didn't do bad at all last season.
 
I agree with Yellowlittle's comment as well, but there were far too many times last season and a number in the CCC as well, where Hoolahan had the chance to shoot and passed instead and vice versa when he shot into a wall of players when someone was in a better position and just needed a pass. I also agree with the earlier comment that he sometimes tries to beat one player to many.

That being said, I still think he's one of the best at the club and wouldn't want to see him leave as he is the most creative player at the club and has won us games on many occasions.

This is so true and anybody who can't see that or doesn't agree needs to re-appraise their assessment of Wes' contribution to the team or go to specsavers <ok>

I find the opposite, he has people absolutely screaming at him to shoot when he has a wall of players directly in front of him. He does keep the ball at times a bit too long perhaps but its because he's after a better opportunity.

There has been nothing printed to substansiate these rumours, so other than getting everyone disscussing Hoops its not worth getting in a twist about !
The world & his dog seems to have" sources within the club" at this time ?
 
Hoolahan along with Fox are the brains of our outfit. Wes can over complicate things sometimes but when his on his game I think you'll be pushed to find a better player in our squad, don't get me wrong our midfield is excellent and they are all creative in their own right, along with Fox Wes is probably the only one who see's the bigger picture at times and links the team together.

I agree, although I have a very good feeling about Butterfield as well. Thing is I think Hoolahan is pretty under rated and because he doesn't knock it out wide and do the simple things he gets stick when he tries something more complexed which fails. Made even more difficult by that fact he was often isolated last season quite a lot because the formation we were playing, I genuinely think put him a bit deeper and get bodies around him, if Howson can make a burst forward I am confident Wes could feed him in, I can't remember much last year when one of our centre midfielders tried to bust a gut to get forward when Wes was on the ball. Easier said than done mind and might not work but still.
 
I'd be very cautious about letting Wes go now, the job he does he is great at, but I do agree he gets lost and isn't right for every game due to his lack of grit. Really not having a go just saying his style is only go against certain teams. If come January he hasn't played, because either snodgrass or Butterfield has taken his place then I would agree that he should leave but selling our best known creative player could be a danger if the replacements don't work out.
