'Meanwhile, Ferguson admitted to being staggered after hearing that another summer transfer target, Lucas Moura, had agreed to join French side Paris St-Germain.
The Brazilian, who has represented his country at the London Olympics, will join in January 2013 on a four-and-a-half-year deal from Sao Paulo.
"To tell everyone that PSG are here they've signed Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic," added Ferguson. "They must have spent about £150m in the last month.
"When somebody's paying 45 million euros (£35.5m) for a 19-year-old boy you have to say the game's gone mad. I find it quite amazing."

The above is from an article in the BBC sport website. Now forgive me if I'm wrong, but didn't he sign Rooney,a 19 year old boy for £25.6 million in 2004?

Allowing for the astronomical rise in transfer fees since then, I think he's taking the piss.

You clearly dont know how wrong you are.

    So so wrong.

Probably best to close this thread if people cannot fathom the massive differences in the 2 transfers.

May aswell say all transfers are the same regardless of when they happened or for how much.

RVP for 2.7million is the same as 35million for Carroll. Obviously!

I think United have good lucky here. From what I have seen of Lucas Moura, how ever talented he is (and boy he has some skills), he just doesnt look suited to English football to be.

If you dont know the differences its probably best to refrain from using the word moron. You might offend yourself.

I will let you figure them out, I have mentioned them numerous times. Only idiots and lazy journos think they are the same ;)

UIR what the **** you on about here? I know you like to give and take with the supporters but you spent a shed load on a 19 year old, SAF is saying spending crazy money on a 19 year is insane yet he did it with Rooney ( paid off in the end me thinks).

Great talent but unproven in europe let alone the PL.

He would of come here and been moulded into a player capable of being one of the best in the world, learning from the best wingers in the league and playing against some of the best fullbacks.

Unlike Rooney who had already established himself in the PL at 18 and taken the world by storm at Euro 2004 Moura has played in the relatively weak brazilian league and sat on the bench in a second rate international tournament.

Factor in the english player tax and the fact we paid in instalments or based on targets after an initial fee without the 200k a week wages being reported I think it doesnt take a genius to see the difference.

I might suggest only idiots and the MBC can't see that there might well be a connection here <whistle> I presume you dont work for the evil beeb....hence you must be an idiot <ok> Apologies for everyone that already realises this....just felt it needed clarification for any new members who may not have been introduced to UIRs nonsense-logic.

We never pay all upfront so unless hes a success the fee is much lower. Had rooney flopped it would of been closer to 15million, with the dodgy accounting used to make Rooneys full fee equivalent to 41 million euros had he failed it would of been more like 20-25million. Hardly a massive lay out for a potentially brilliant player. Also strongly doubt his wages were anywhere near mouras.

Then if we take the economy into account back then and now, the fee becomes even more insane. We are in a recession after all, we were not in 2004. Quite the opposite.

Its like saying apples and oranges are the same. Yes they are fruits but thats where it ends.

Simple question for all of you....

Can you justify £35million for a 19 year old who has never played in europe? On 200k a week?

UIR, you are yet another prime example of why ypeople shouldn't argue with an idiot - They only drag you down to their level then beat you with experience!

I will say that, the difference between Liverpool and Manchester is a lot smaller than Brazil and Manchester.

18 year olds move larger distances to go to uni than Rooney did to United.

But as he is talking about age, then yes, the fee is mad.

I personally think paying fee's like that for teenagers from abroad should be banned. I think Fifa need to take a serious look at things like this.

I was simply going off what Fergie said and not once did he mention how much he would make, just talked about the fee paid. Ahhh so now the installments come into play. Yet those were never mentioned with Aquilani with us?

    Im the idiot eh?

Funny, see here I am on the board of a club who are trying to justify the huge fees paid to a relatively unknown kid as a way of having a dig at their arch rivals while not being able to figure out first of all why they are wrong and second of all how clubs like PSG signing players for insane amounts has played its part in the demise of their club.

    Like I said, funny <ok>

I did, think I said you have now paid 18million for him....

    which incidently is moronic.

Rooneys fee was 10 upfront, instalments and targets. about a million a year in instalments for 5 years ( his initial contract length? ) and the rest based on how well he does individually and as part of the team.

We paid in full in the end, because he proved his worth.

Now how is that in anyway the same as paying 35million for a player who has proved **** all? Its even madder than you lot buying carroll, it really is.

Amazingly you already realise the connection <doh>

The connections are....age....talent....Fungus wanted both desperately....the fees which considering the rise in fees since you signed Shrek (and of course inflation) make Rooney far more expensive in relative terms....granted I will give you that they aren't the same person and thus there are subtle differences...but hardly enough to discount Fungus's rank hypocrisy <ok>

Classic bit of bollox this one UIR...you have somehow surpassed your normal level of twatishness with this one <applause>
