Longest transfer rumours

So, another transfer window and once again we're being linked with Leandro Damiao. This seems to have been the case for years!

As a result, it got me thinking of other players that seemed to be linked with us, year upon year. I remember Andy Reid was linked with us for an age, prior to signing... he was well worth the wait, wasn't he?

So, whether the transfers came to fruition or not, what other players can you think of that seemed to be constantly linked to our glorious club?

Parker was linked to us when he was still at Chelsea!

 

I seem to remember that Stuart downing was linked to us for a few years before going to Villa.
Before that, heskey was linked to us for at least 2 seasons when he was at Leicester.

 

Evening Junction

Figo and Vieri used to always get linked to us although I'm not sure why. Morientes too from around that time. NEW STRIKER is probably the longest running one I've known but I think he's retired now.

 

its the papers that make them seem long.....Leandro looking lively tonight by the way....

i think the Jenas saga is by far the longest transfer saga..because we cant transfer the lad for about the last 4 years it seems.

 

The Bentley saga is nearly as bad as Jenas!!!

Going back a fair few years now, didn't the Dozzell move from Ipswich take a few years and rebrov's move to us take 18 months to complete?

 

Chris Perry and Ben Thatcher took a couple of windows' worth as well, didn't they?

 

The sweetest deals seem to be those that happen quickly and unexpectedly, as with the VDV signing.

 

Judging by his squad pic, we're really not being subtle with Bentley any more, are we?
