http://nothingbutnewcastle.com/2012/08/blogs/should-newcastle-cut-their-losses-and-sell-to-swansea? I think we could do better imo
Alan Hutton is on the move , now there's a player I dislike .He's become surplus to Lambert's requirements which is good news for decent footballers
Obertan, no thanks. No end product with him at all. our wingers at least chip in with assists and goals and i really think if he came here he would be 4th choice behind dyer ,routs and sinclair
Hmmm....not sure. For £2.5M it may be a good deal. Depends on Laudrup's plans for Routledge. I'm all for competition for spaces and Dyer and Sinclair have very little it seems to me. Obertan looks like a player with real potential that with the right coaching may well come good. Can't deny he's got pace and talent.
We may need a player of his caliber if we should lose key players. I'm still waiting for a tall quality defender that we need on board yet and a striker....
We definitely need a top quality centre half Dai no doubt about it. We need a centre forward too but I wonder if we can afford it right now.
Laudrup said in the press conference that there are maybe 2 players coming in this week, sounded quite certain about it to me. There is an equal measure of excitment and fear for the coming season..i cant fault his signings on paper, hope he can use his contacts to swing a top loan player from somewhere and the parent club pays half the money..i dont ask for much do i
I personally think we should spend a bit more money than what we have so far. We dont have to go overboard but at the same time we cannot try and scrimp on players either. We have enough coffers in the bank to spend £5 -£6 million on 3-4 quality players and not put much of a dent into what we have earned the day we beat reading at wembley....
We did`nt earn anything from the Wembley day Dai. The losing team take the revenue due to the fact thay lost. A sort of sweetener for losing. Although I could very well be wrong on that.
I liked the look of him when he was at Manchester Utd. I think he could challenge Sinclair for a starting place for sure.
i don't mean literally the reading game i meant promotion to the top flight swanee. we have been well rewarded from that day to this with nearly £100 million....
If more players are coming in there is going to have to be one almighty clear-out to keep the squad size down to the levels Laudrup wants.
now this is where i strongly disagree with Mr Laudrup here. His idea of a squad size is well below other teams as he is willing to use junior players if we have a number of players out at the same time and more experienced managers would have quality cover if they have injuries......just because mr laudrup is a new manager and some think he is right because of who he is is stupid and if we go the way he wants to go then i don't give us much of a chance should we lose 2 or 3 key players during the season......we need a minimum of 28 seasoned players to have any chance....
I don't know where he's said that he's going to use junior players and if so then that is a risk, it does go against what Huw said recently that the players being brought in will be experienced rather than what you've alluded to .Got to dash , off to watch the new kids on the block
there is a link regarding obertan from tonights game http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12691/7971754/Laudrup-coy-on-Obertan-link
Can't see Obertan going anywhere tbh. We need him he's second choice rm. Don't rate him that highly though. He's pretty much on the same level as Routledge.
I like the idea of having 2 seniors for every position and then the likes of Cornell, Obeng, Situ, B. Davies, Lucas, G. Edwards and Donnelly at least have a chance of making the bench if we get an injury or 2. In reality if for example Taylor got injured, Jazz would start and if he was out of form Laudrup would most likely ask another senior to play out of position for a bit.....but at least B. Davies would have a chance of some substitute appearances and he has the possibility of impressing and forcing his way into the first XI. Young players need to have that to aim for. If we have a genuine injury crisis there is always the loan market. A trim squad means that the first 2 players in each position will be of better quality as we can afford slightly better wages. Flexibility is important too. Look at Laudrup's signings so far.... Chico has played top flight football at right-back as well as centre-half. De Guzman is a centre midfielder who covers attacking centre mid and could even fill in on the wing. Michu is an attacking mid who is comfortable getting stuck in in midfield and could play up front if we needed him too.
