Most newly promoted teams tend to do well to start with because of their unknown quality, but few have started with the class of opposition that we are starting with this year, hoping for respectability and no humiliation this Season, anything could happen.
 
Believe it or not there were recently people in Saints Facebook/Twitter land who were saying we should have a front two of Heskey/Owen for this season.

I quite fancy us to surprise the big boys at the start. Our work rate under Adkins is superb and the new system is equipping us well to be more competitive in the middle of midfield against the good teams (19 of them this season). Even the understated players like Dean Hammond have raised their game and I don't think we'll struggle to adapt. We've done the right thing by playing some testing friendlies to prepare us for the teams we'll play this season. A few more additions and we'll be nicely set up for the season.
 
Lens scored a stunning goal today against Ajax in the Dutch supercup.

I say that we cough up 10 million and get him on board. He looks class. If J Rod is worth 6.5 then Lens is definitely worth 10....Clye and Lens down the right would be scary.

No chance now I reckon. He's forced his way into PSV's starting plans and would cost much more.

Yeah we should've really gone for him whilst he was cold. I like the idea of us not being ripped off by anyone but there are times, especially in this era, when you have to cough up that little bit extra to secure a signature.
