Spa Francorchamp: King of a handful of tracks?

I have to say Monaco to me looks like the hardest track to drive, millimetre perfection is required or they crash out. At Spa they can make mistakes all over and still be in the race.

Also I think Eau Rouge is over rated, everyone always talks about that corner in awe, I'm not convinced. I like the track as a whole though. Suzuka, mmm somehow I never really like it as much as everyone else

But best track of all in my opnion - Montreal

I also loved Turkey, shame its gone.

Well, my Hindu friend; I don't mind what anyone says so long as its polite and reasonably on topic!

As I said earlier in the thread, my own personal favourite is Nürb Nordschliefe. However, I didn't include it when expressing my opinion that Suzuka has dethroned Spa for the present-day King of circuits currently used at the pinnacle of motor sport, because it is no longer used.*

They can't, the twats dug it all up, turned one of the best circuits into one of the worst IMO.

OK, if it doesn't have to be F1, i'd nominate Road America, great track, long straights, tight corners etc. Sounds like a boring Tilke drome but is anything but that.

Yes, Sea-Man; I'd say Monaco requires the greatest concentration of all F1 circuits. Obviously this is a gigantic challenge, especially when one considers that it is also the longest race (in terms of time).

At the less technical circuits such as Spa, a driver can 'push the boat out' in a quite different manner: as you say, little errors are very costly at Monaco but can be ridden out to some extent at Spa. However, that's the very same thing that makes it a 'bottle' (courage) circuit. Risk taking gives a bigger pay-back but at a potentially far higher cost. And as you say, Eau Rouge/Radillon has been tamed by aerodynamic advances (although this actually makes it even faster; and harder on both body and mind!).

As for Suzuka v Fuji: I think there are two schools of thought. Both are great circuits but the purpose built challenges presented at Suzuka make the difference for me.

America has some great tracks, it's a shame the majority of them aren't F1 standard. Places like Road America, Road Atlanta, Mid Ohio (Good ALMS race there today), Sebring etc.

Such a shame this was never made the US GP, but I 'd love to see F1 cars go round Road America/Elkhart Lake. Indycars can make that look good, imagine what F1 could have done!

I'd like to second the suggestions for Silverstone and Interlagos and, while I'm certainly no expert in such things, I have a great affection for the now-lost Istanbul Park - and it's a Tilkedrome to boot!

It's actually pretty good for a Tilke track. Law of averages say he has to get one right. Just don't hold your breath for another.
