Not actually on here to take the piss..

Just read a lot of the posts on your official forum slagging off Harrold and was a bit surprised as he looked like a very decent target man yesterday, bloody strong and held the ball up well. Could've scored a couple with a bit more luck too.. Is he not normally like that or do a lot of the posters on there suffer from "otib syndrome" where someone has to be rubbish regardless of performance?!

Think Harrold, Clarkson and that german bloke with a silly long name linked up well and could cause a lot of teams problems in your league.

On the downside thought that Kenneth and Virgo looked pretty poor, the Faroe Island guy also with a frustratingly long name definately likes a tackle and could be a solid player for your lot.

Think you should be pushing for play offs in my opinion!

    jambo <ok>

few posters on our OS forum are very fickle like some on otib. i wasnt their yesterday as wasnt really interested in going. just a friendly in my eyes with no importantance to us apart from gaining match fitness. i think if the price for this friendly was more reasonable (£15 is a joke) then i might of went. i think a lot of people thought the same considering what the attendance was. when i saw the line up for us, i didnt expect anything different was going to happen. our keeper only met the rest of the team few hours before kick off and he played for swindon on friday night! our 2 cb never played together before and 1 of these still recovering form his long term injury (virgo) and the other (kenneth) hasnt played much pre season games so was always going to be a tough ask. then our captain (gill) pulled out before kick off injured which must have been a distruption. broghammer and clucas are young and new players as well. harrold and clarkson still getting use to each other. with this in mind, i knew we were going to struggle. oh and of course that 2 league gap might have an influence! however somehow we managed to keep it 1-0 to 79 mins. either we did well under the above circumstances to keep it low to 1-0 or you were quite poor and struggling to turn over a div 4 side on your own patch with the above problems mentioned! and that 1 goal lead was apparently down to a very poor keeping error. course you ended up 3-0 winners which tbh i did expect.
what im pissed off about is kenneth and hunter injured during the game and gill before the game. kenneth went off and on came baldvinsson who is new and not played either yet.

i did listen to small bits of the game on the radio and i must admit, i could hear both sets of fans. gasheads were loud condsidering we were one 8ths of the attendance. but i could hear city loud as well. sounded good atmosphere considering low attendance.

last season we won all but 1 friendly and struggled all season. this season we struggled in all pre season games so.......

im sure there would of been a few on our side who would of done the same but come on...bragging rights over a friendly????

Ahh fair enough cjs! Didn't know how new the defence was <ok>

Kenneths injury was a bit of a strange one really, pulled up with noone around him holding the back of his thigh, could be serious or just a twinge. Hunter got fouled over the opposite side of the pitch to where I was sat but it didn't look particularly bad at the time, don't know whether he pulled something? He's a young 'un isn't he? Looked like he has decent control and can run well with the ball.

The keeper had a bit of a mixed game, should've kept out Woolford's goal but made a couple of blinding saves. One of them diving down to his left after Anderson shot from inside the area was really, really good.

Think both side looked a lot better going forward than they did at the back. Broghammer (wondered what his name was!) put a few decent balls into the box and looks a tidy player.

Went to the game with my girlfriend's dad who's a gashead and described sitting in the Dolman as "like being a Syrian rebel in the middle of Damascus" but it was a very enjoyable game!

im not sure on details on their injuries. may find out next few days.
hunter is from our academy. just 16 nearly 17 of just turned 17 not sure. very young. last season he had all the top clubs watching him like arsenal and man city/utd etc. definately 1 for the future. expecting bigger than scott sinclair.
broghammer is on trial who should replace carayol. he is from germany. mcghee using his contacts in germany to find him. been in reserves in german prem club and played in german u19s championships with kroos and co. something about him.

your girlfriends dad has sense ;)

Ok...had time to think about it....
    * two poor sides....you were better than us though
    * your no11 (Woolford) looks useful......Bolassie? also
    * our triallist goalie (Turner) has weak hands/wrist....could have done better with first two goals
    * I'm beginning to worry that L Brown is not as good as I thought he was. I want to see more committed
    tackling from a LB
    * I thought Virgo had a good game. The new no5 from Scotland looks like a manbeast....bluddy huge
    * It's difficult in a crowd knowing where the most noise is coming from, but the Wedlock was making a racket
but only a few dozen lads in your Williams looked enthusiastic. The Atyeo was a deserted morgue and those
in the Dolman were more interested in keeping dry!
    * We've got work to do to be at the top this season. We either keep looking for another GK or we put
our trust in Gough. And we need a GK coach!! I won't knock Harrold but he isn't going to get loads of goals; and
Clarkson looks like he's past it. Striker needed!

Yes it may have been a friendly, but both teams/fans wanted to win, so yes we do have bragging rights, if we were in the same league then no we wouldn't, but we might not play each over now for another 5 years, so we won the last bristol derby, but to be honest it was obvious we would

dont think so shiny. i couldnt care a less in winning a friendly. these games are about match fitness getting ready for when it really matters. im positive that both changing rooms priority yesterday was match fitness and hopefully a good performance. i wasnt there so cant comment on performance.
if winning a friendly gives you bragging rights then so be it. about time you beat us. i mean since we beat you in the jpt in 2007, you havent beat us. we have played several derbies in that time like fans derby and legends derby which rovers have won every single season. but again these games are friendlies for charity like the testimonial game which carey is donating to charity. none of these games including yesterday will count in the statistics though like in the head to head stats etc etc.

if it makes you feel better shiny in counting yesterday to actually mean something so you can claim bragging rights then knock yourself out <laugh> <ok>

im sure if rovers won yesterday then you wouldnt be saying the same thing. while i would be <ok>

    p49 <hug>
your right. after seeing the goals on wiz thread, looks like 1st 2 goals were keeping errors by us. 1-0 would of been embarrassing for them considering our troubles as i stated in previous comments.

'but we might not play each over now for another 5 years'
Shiny...MM has said that until we're in the same division  he could see
this being a regular pre-season match.

I have read the above comments regarding it being a game of fitness, yes it was for BOTH teams. New players guess what we also had new players and we also never started with our strongest 11.

Yes Shiny brag away these lot would do exactly the same.

P49 everyone knows the Wedlock stand has good acoustic's and sounds loud when your in there, but to slag off the other stands is bollocks I sat in the Dolman and the atmosphere was fantastic, I could hear the Atyeo and the Williams. Stop thinking you lot out sang us all I could here was the odd **** song about Irene that got drowned out by us. It might of been loud to you but from where I was it wasn't.

What ever anybody says We win 3-0. If he boot was on the other foot you would be the same.

Yes, there were good things to spot. I thought Carey was gracious to our club and fans,
some of our fans applauded him at the beginning, your manager clapped Clarkson as he came off
(I think not ironically), Carey and Anyinsah having a long friendly chat.
I've got a bit of the Olympian spirit...call me ol' skool if you like but I think these things matter!

    didnt say you didnt <ok>

i wouldnt. said so above. i wouldnt get excited over a friendly. like i didnt when all the other friendlies have taken place in the last 5 years vs city. friendlies dont count in the stats on head to heads. that have no importance. reading as example won the championship last season without winning a single pre season game. what importance was there in those pre season games? none apart from preparing for the real thing get match fit. nothing else matters. i was excited last season after we won all but 1 pre season game and hit good form going into game 1 but we was ****e throughout the season. so results has no importance in pre season. i learned that the hard way last season. if you think they are important and can claim bragging rights <laugh> from them, then im happy for you <nahnah>

again, both fans sounded loud on the bits i heard on the radio.

But you have to remember one thing, Shiny is younger than us so probably not been in this position before. Whilst I have had years of ups and downs with bragging rights <ok>

Yes but what im trying to stress is that your team, your management your fans and YOU wanted to win, bollocks to it being a "friendly" you wanted to win, and so did we, and we did it fairly easily. Yes i agree its a friendly and that its not as competitive as a cup or a league game, but when we both meet we both want to win. If someone asks what was the score the last time the bristol clubs met the answer would be Bristol City 3-0 Bristol rovers. Wouldn't say its bragging rights where we can go shouting about it in the streets but we now have the 1-0 cup loss off our backs <ok>

i understood you the 1st time shiny. no need to stress your point as you say. however i disagree with your point. starters you say i wanted rovers to win. wrong. i didnt care if we won, drew or lost. its a nothing game and means nothing. i only care about the games that count. this is a fact as this is true to how i felt about it. you cant say i wanted to win as you have no idea what i wanted. next, is the manager. all throughout pre season mcghee has stated he is not interested in results in these games. he wants fitness and performances to be right. next, is the team. i hope the players wanted to win but it would of been stressed to them that fitness comes 1st. listen to the players interviews throughout pre season and they all been saying the same. next, the fans. im sure there are fans of both sides who really wanted the win. im sure there are fans on both sides that really didnt care as they know it means nothing. im in that bracket along with several others from both sides. your in the bracket that thinks winning a friendly is a great achievement claiming bragging rights <laugh>
im sure if someone asks who won the last derby, they only be interested in the derby that actually counts in the statistics :)

1-0 cup loss off your backs??? <laugh> if you say so. record books wouldnt agree with you though ;)

im currently immitating elmo below at anyone who thinks the same as shiny <laugh>

So your admitting you are a red <laugh>

well im in the group of every game my team play, i want them to win, whether its a league game cup game friendly or 5 a side, i dont like to lose, and like i said, its not bragging rights to shout about, but its good enough to shut your lot up ;)

Im glad we won, as you would of been if you would of won ( as if though <laugh> ) and im sure 100% our board would be full of your lot had you won. Also like to say i haven't come on to this board giving it the big un as i partly agree with you, it was just a friendly( which we won 3asy) , but we won the last brisol derby and we will leave it as that <ok>

well your going to be upset a lot this season then :)

shut us up? seriously?? <laugh> exactly, your win yesterday is nothing to shout about as 99.9% of people dont care about a friendly. think less than 9000 fans turning up yesterday proves this :) feel sorry for carey though. legend for your club. no one has or will again show city the loyalty he has shown you. wish we had someone with that loyalty on our side <ok> think he deserved a better showing from your fans but obviously a meaningless game is not worth it :)

again, i wouldnt have been glad if we won. again it means nothing. im sure you would have had a few gas on your board on the wums. not denied that. i do like the fact though that as we are apparently not rivals anymore (yeah i know) a few of you do like to come on here and do like to claim bragging rights ;)
you did win the last bristol derby game. well done. means absolutely nothing though. not even bragging right which you want but too embarrassed to claim from the roof tops <laugh>
