For someone that went: which players played well and which didn't, etc? <ok>

I think friendlies are interesting if they're one or more of the following

    a) Not a huge number of miles away
    b) In a stadium you've never been to before or not very often
    c) There's been a lot of new players brought in to your team
    d) You're playing someone exotic

Otherwise, I don't think they're generally worth going to

If I lived closer then I'd go to more friendlies. I have to consider the cost and the length of time away from home out of the season.

That's your opinion fair enough, we don't all think that way, some of us would like to assess what we have in store for the future, football is more than the blitzkrieg of first team matches, if it's glory hunting that you are after, you are following the wrong team.

I'm looking forward to getting to some midweek Under 21 fixtures. Being midweek, I can arrange work trips around them, so may do some home and away games.

Clyne excellent, Gazza looks competent, did fluff one cross, Puncheon very enthusiastic, Fox was classic Fox, Hooiveld steady as a rock, Stephens a few shaky moments but fair, Lala busy and set up several chances playing in the hole behind Sharp, who took his goal well but did get caught offside too often, must show more awareness if he is going to lead the front, showed a bit of pace and is getting fitter, Chaplow busy, nothing special, Hammond more back passes than you can shake a stick at but competent, Guly was very versatile, here there and everywhere, should have scored a couple of times, De Rid was like a headless chicken when he came on, final ball decisions not good, Fonte and Seaborne don't seem to be on the same wavelength at times, Ward-Prowse and Davis didn't see much of the ball so hard to judge, Richardson seemlessly took over from Clyne, there were some good movements down the flanks, but better teams will exploit this if we lose the ball in crucial areas, not a bad work out, no one really broke into a real sweat, particularly Wolves who just made it a stroll in the Park.

You could always go see the Ladies play instead.

Lambert and others just rested, not injured before any conspiracy theories start. Presumably so they are fresh for Brizzle and Udinese.

Thought we played well. We moved the ball about well and limited Wolves to not very much. Dean Hammond looked a bit safe. On the plus side though, he didn't give much away and put himself about, so he could be useful when we need that sort of player. Steven Davis and JWP looked like having a bit of quality, but there wasn't much of a tempo once the subs started rolling. Both goals taken well.

I'm not after glory hunting <laugh>.I just don't get all the fuss about a silly friendly.

Friendlies are very different to competitive matches.

It's about supporting your team through thick and thin, the players appreciate your support wherever and whenever, the results of friendlies, although sometimes disappointing, are not so important, but we all like to see our team winning. How often do you see posters coming on here asking who is for example, "Chambers" e.t.c. whereas if they cared to follow all aspects of each group of players within the Club, they would be ahead of the game and would know who is who. Fair enough if all you are interested in are the home games that you can attend, that's your perogative, I tend to take more interest in the wider scope of the Club, the Team and every single individual, that's my choice. Try it you might be pleasantly surprised.

Hoping to do some home and away U21 games. My job allows me to travel so I have the fortune to arrange meetings in the appropriate town midweek.
