If we spend 12 million on Fletcher we will be emulating them, they spent 11 million on Yakubu, good 1st season, dire for the next 3, but to properly emulate them we will need to spend 20 million on a CM (who has been great for them) and 9 million on a russian flop Diniyar Bilyaletdinov.

Its all about opinions of course but I'd be deligthed to emulate Everton of the past 100 years, having never been relegated before.

I'd also take their successes of the past 25 years, with European cups, FA Cups and League titles.

I'm not exactly sure what it is you dont like about any of that Steve, given our utter shambolic post war history?

Okay Cest I'll give him some time to impress me if he comes that is but, one question mate who else is in for him? I'm not talking about the top 6/7 teams here I'm talking about the teams that will be in and around us by the end of the season and that can afford the price.

How do we know if anyone else is interested. Just because they havn't made it public dosen't mean their not.

They have been relegated, it was a while ago mind but they did go down in the 50`s (we used to hold the record then Arsenal just surpassed us for most consecutive seasons in the top flight), i may have got the wrong end of the stick with the bold bit though, but not sure what else you could mean.

As for our history, thats the whole point surely, its our history, we are not Everton, I dont want their History, whats to say their future is any better than ours, personally I just cant see it but they do keep plugging away, but it has to end sooner or later, you cant keep doing what they are doing with 0 money season after season, the bubble will burst, and I would rather have our history as we have learnt from our mistakes (hopefully) and we have all the bad crap behind us (again hopefully) and its not staring us in the face and could knock us out any time soon (again hopefully).

Newcastles "recent" history is better than ours, would I want theirs, no its theirs, I want us to write our own history (which we have done, even if it was a bit bleak, its still ours) not look jealously at someone elses.

Learnt from our mistakes Steve? That's not the Sunderland way mate as we keep making the same ones over and over again. Not sure why people would want to emulate Everton either they've done jack over the last few years except beat us regularly

Really?

Post war record of SAFC & EFC (so the last 62 years)

Everton FC

4 times champions (9 in total)
1 runners up

3 FA Cups
5 Runners up

2 League Cups

1 European Cups

1 relegation

Sunderland AFC

1 FA Cup

9 relegations (including a trip to the 3rd tier)
2 record low points tallies in the top flight of 15 & 19 points (thankfully there was Derby County to save our faces)

So, in answer to your question, I'd LOVE to emulate Everton over the next 60 years mate.

You are being purposely pedantic Steve.

At no point did I mean I wanted someone else's history and only someone who is a total arsehole, or someone who just like having a dig at EVERY post I make would think so.

I want us to have a history that has the same level or better than Everton's and any SAFC fan that would rather have a **** future above a successful one is just a dick and I would question their support of the club totally.

Pull a blue shirt on then mate and put your red and white stripes in the wardrobe. Agreed Everton have been successful over the last 60 odd years but, what about the last ten or so? Before Moyes they struggled in the bottom half for a good few years almost Coventry like in their play. As for us we wouldn't have it any other way yourself included mate, it would be piss boring being successful all the time (nice but boring).
Any way any news on the Fletcher deal how much more do the Brummies want now for him?

AWWW!! poor cest doesnt like anyone debating back.

Cest if you didnt write crap on every post i wouldnt have to have a dig.

and you said you wanted evertons history as ours was crap, not once until now did you say you want us to emulate everton over the next 60 years. see more crap coming out of your gob.

PS by crap i mean fake stats, history of another club etc, your opinion is fine, just as long as you let others have a differing one to you.

FFS that's what having an opinion is, just because you disagree and can't change his view you start putting words in his mouth. Give your head a shake fellah<ok>

What fake stats? I missed out 1 relegation? And then corrected it.
