Everything you have said is just speculation. Although I also suspect he will be a Liverpool player after his Olympic duty's are over, I do not know it as fact, and will therefore not write it up as such.

According to "speculation" Joe has agreed terms with `Pool. Pool are now negotiating the fee with the Swans. How much of this is true, I don`t know and I don`t really care until we hear from SCFC. I just hope that we stick to the £15 million in his "release clause". Any less and I will not be happy with Huw & co. If Pool don`t, or won`t pay that then tell them to f**k off.

That`s all I`m saying on this until something official is said.

And your source for that information? Yes its in the papers but if you look at the actual report its the same one doing the rounds in the press. You don't know if this is a fact, only a few people would know and they certainly would not be telling the press this! Also you don't agree terms first then try and negotiate the release of the player, the fee must be agreed first.

BR used none of the usual superlatives; but he did express that it would take some time for Liverpool to play like we did last season. Nice to be leader that the big club chooses to follow. Makes one rethink the concept of big club.

Can't help but one wonder why somebody would want to go and play for a team that the manager thinks is less than the team where he is right now.

    Its not Champ Manager.

Its a well known fact that clubs have negotiated terms with the interested club before a fee agreed almost in every deal. This is because clubs haggling over a fee takes four times the time as agreeing wages with a player who wants a move.

Most clubs contact the agent first before doing anything to sound out if the player would even be interested before they go to the aggro of contact the club and negotiating. there's no point spending what can be sometimes months worth of work agreeing a deal with a club, only to be then be told by the player he isn't interested.

I suppose technically thats 'tapping up' but its the accepted way of doings in deals now.

The reason I know this is because a friend I went to School with is now a Professional footballer and has been transfered 3 times so we got to see how these things went down by being around him at those times. (I won't say who he is for obvious reasons but he started at Liverpool and as moved clubs twice and is still a Premier League player)

Also, where getting all our crddible info on this deal from the Liverpool Echo (inparticular Neil Jones) who basically are inside the club and are used by the club when they want stuff leaked. They have confirmed that LFC know Allen wants the move and all thats left is the negotiations between the two clubs, and although Jenkins is pissed at Brendan breaking his promise have resigned to him going so are now trying to get the best deal possible. There basically 'hinting' (can't say it outright) that he has already agreed terms. There printing this as fans are getting restless about lack of signings so this is them saying we've got some in the pipework. What they usually do.

    http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/live...-on-brink-of-fiorentina-move-100252-31512012/

Chris Bascombe of the Telegraph is another Journo (as well as Tony Barrett of The Times and Ben Smith of the BBC) who has proven inside contacts at the club. He said our MD stayed home from the US Tour so as he could carry on working on this deal with Swansea. Ayre was very notably absent from the tour which was a surprise given his usual conduct of wanting to be centre stage. He also has a proven track record and is trustworthy.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...Alberto-Aquilani-back-to-an-Italian-club.html

Tony Barrett has also said in The Times (Times is a pay-site) that negotiations are continuing and Ben Smith (@BenSmithBBC) has confirmed this but hinted its a lot further along than that. The Olympics will hold everything up no matter what.

So there is a little evidence from the Echo that Allen has give Liverpool the nod and perhaps even agreed terms but there is nothing as concrete as A Casual Fan is making out above.

I think you may have misinterpreted what he said. He didn't say Liverpool were an inferior team. When he mentioned playing like us I took it to mean playing the style of football we play. They can still be a better team even while not playing our style of football.

If you can't see why someone would want to leave Swansea to join Liverpool, then I suggest you open your eyes. Many players would jump at the chance. I think the vast majority of fans all over the country would accept that Liverpool are more likely to finish in top 4 than Swansea. I would like to think that we'll get there one day, but most players would choose Swansea over Liverpool, for both football and money reasons.

It's concrete. But we haven't been told officially that it's concrete. That doesn't mean it's not concrete. You are all free to think what you like, but this deal is going ahead.

"Most clubs contact the agent first"

As you point out that's not allowed and IS tapping up so I don't accept that at all.

That said, I suspect Allen will be on his way but on our terms and we'll squeeze every last penny out of them. He will be replaced with an equally talented player (probably from La Liga) at a fraction of the price. You see, Allen is a 'tidy' player but flawed too as he's far too inconsistent imo. Shhh! Don't tell them. Personally I'd have taken £10M but that's just me.

Rodgers gone by Christmas, with Allen regretting the move. Seen it all before and it's just history repeating. And yes, I'm speculating in keeping with the theme of the thread. <laugh>
