Sounds like a decent team. ARE YOU READY FOR THE BAR-CLAYS NEW YORK CUP POWERED BY UNDER ARMOUR, AS TOTNAM TAKE ON RED BULLS? YEEEEE HAWWW
Seems to be his new number, probably written into his contract or something stupid. Go Huddle-stone and Totnarm fan favourite Gomes
US commentary is brilliant! Loving the "Cahill attempting a take away" and "the counter lay down the right". Much better than Lawrenson, Townsend or the other dross we get. Bale's the striker it seems.
1-0 Red Bull. Caught out by the ball over the top again, with Vertonghen adjudged to have fouled Cahill. Looked a bit soft to me and the penalty taker clearly stopped his run up, but the lack of communication at the back looked evident, again.
We've been better since we went behind, but our shape looks poor and we're not keeping it as well as we should be. Series of wasted set-pieces, unsurprisingly. Drew a couple of relatively easy, if dramatically executed, saves from their keeper, at least.
Assou-Ekotto's been drifting all over the place, as have a few others. Not really sure if that was the plan. We've been passing well enough but it took us awhile to start sending any real numbers forward.
I'd argue he's pointless fullstop. Far too slow and not great decision making so far. Walker's having a poor one too, not tracking back well which is strange considering he's hardly got forward either. Hopefully Kane will be on for Bentley in the second half, we're not playing a particularly highline and New York are closing us down from the front so I think Kane will find he gets a lot more time and chances than he had against Liverpool.
Really unimpressive first half, for me. Lots of aimless and slow possession, with absolutely no cutting edge, conceding a poorly defended penalty and offering little up front. Bentley doesn't work on the left and probably won't work at all without a target man. Livermore didn't do much and made a couple of particularly poor passes. Huddlestone was mixed, giving the ball away a couple of times unnecessarily, but he seemed to have little to aim at. Lennon had a lot of players around him and no options for his final ball. Bale and Sigurdsson both looked quite lost and contributed very little. The system looks all over the place with the current personnel. It's clear that we literally have no strikers and this is only a friendly, but it's also clear that we need to do a fair bit of business in the rest of the transfer window. We need at least two forwards, for a start. Female presenter on Spurs TV Online doesn't realise that she's on air. Just called a film that she saw yesterday 'painful'!
It's Americans on Spurs TV too, YV. Probably the same feed, but minus adverts and nobody's told the presenters that they're on air the whole time!
