Also, you realise the FA never charged him for being a racist? Clarify what you mean by 'racist remarks' - remarks that could be seen in a racial context, or the remarks of a racist. There is a huge difference, and Suarez was found guilty of the former, not the latter.

Anyway, I'll just quote what I said then, as again you have ignored it, willingly or otherwise.



EDIT: I'd also like to note that in your last post, you've managed to ask aggressively why I'm on the forum without any provocation, spoken hyperbolically about a person you don't know (Suarez), swore crudely, used a stereotypical insult (bin-dipping) and inferred that I'm a 'pillock' who should be involved in a supposed 'love fest' on my own board (of which there is none, we fully acknowledge Suarez has faults).

Why do you feel the need to act in this manner? You wouldn't act like it in 'real life'.

Of course he is, all premiership players go around hurling racial insults 8 times so as NOT to wind up opposing players and of course they all accidentally fall over several times in a match in order not to get free kicks and get opposing players sent off/booked. Then of course there is the biting!

There is something disturbing about the thought of banning all swearing in football. I say this as an avid yet judicious swearer. I can't say how I do it but somehow I do not swear in crowded public areas and never in front of children or teens even in private. Sorry I've no idea how I control it, maybe it's just me up bringing and being socially concious. My dad swore every other word, in front of everyone everywhere. Watching TV, reading the paper, parking the car, shopping, fixing a shelf, talking about the weather, there'd be whatever he was talking about including eight or nine F**ks. He'd make sailors blush. He was, like me, working class from SW London. We both grew up and played on the slum streets with the other dregs. I've been swearing since before I went to school. So I don't believe all this B**ll*ks when people swear because they can't help it or it is how they were brought up. No people swear publicly because they don't care, don't care about others, feel themselves to be so more important than anyone else that they don't give a monkey's about their behaviour in front of kids, even their own. Notice that must include my beloved and missed Father.

Football is rooted in our National identity, it is entwined with who we feel we are and as such accurately reflects our society in many aspects. Our much heralded and lambasted idolised football heroes are no more than members of that society playing football. Their behaviour, like it or not, would be and is the majority of the population's in the same circumstances. The question is should football aspire to be better than that? Already the desire for a clean aspirational sport is demanded by those pumping money into the sport though advertising. Also the FA have a egalitarian vision of the sport that dates and often reflects the values the Nineteenth century.

I feel it could not hurt for swearing to be banned in football. I don't for a minute believe it could be enforced, but it should be set as an ideal. A challenge to be better, set the bar higher and constantly reprimand those in breach of a code of conduct but not heavily penalise, to re-enforce right from wrong (something many adults stupidly believe they can ignore as part of their unwritten rights) and maybe over the years a small thing like showing courtesy may engender something bigger and better.

We are a society, we have great benefits from being so, in fact it is one of the greatest personal dangers we all face in behaving anti-socially and selfishly. It is trite yet absolutely true that Anarchy is Freedom. We aren't free and should never aspire to be, for that leads to extinction. Yes you are reading a football blog post, but as I already said football is a microcosm of society, therefore all it's highs and lows triumphs and ignominious episodes, things that make us proud or infuriate us, stem from who we are, our culture, and our beliefs and ambitions.

I don't think it's controversial to say that, a huge part of law is precedent. The FA will surely work on the basis or with it in mind.

It's one thing to scrutinise comments, but that one was made in a way of an introductory statement - a headline so to speak (I started a thread that was then merged into this one).

I would invite you to read the entire thread if you have not done so, in which you will see I have an objective and reasonable view of the Terry case, which the more... respected members of your board agreed with.

The only thing I heard is that the kit lady refused to speak to him because he was black. And they liked whiting him up at Christmas parties like the black n white minstrels.

Guess it was that legendary scouse sense of humour
