I realise my error. I should've said, the move materialised suddenly after months of speculation linking us and JR.

Gillett has left Pompey, and joined Forest on trial instead. Hope the lad goes well.

    Smart move Simon.

Oh and also, for those odd reports on us being linked to Leon Best....

...He has done his cruciate ligament in training for Blackburn, and is out for the season. He just signed for them for £3m.

Sounds similar to what happened to Tyrone Mears.

People without starting a war are missing the obvious
Why would arsenal consider getting rid of him ?
Because he has been a failure at Arsenal that's why

15 million for a lad that still can not cross a ball consistently , no thank you , and to top it off he would be on over 5 million a year , all this proves is how ****e footballers are from this country and how desperate we are to attract them .
We should get our own from the academy and then not sell them , that would show ethics and respect to the game , something that's been missing for 20 years in this game .

Sorry, I just need to flag this one point up. What exactly do you mean when you say that? Are you saying that it was unethical and disrespectful of us to sell Walcott and Bale (and later, Chamberlain)? Or do you mean it is disrespectful to our current Academy graduates?

How has he been a failure at Arsenal? Last year he got the fourth most assists in the league more than Bale who everyone raves about and scored 8 goals not bad for a winger also just one less than Bale so has Bale been a failure. Also he is only just starting to get consistent fitness and is still only 23 younger than Lallana. My arsenal supporting mate really rates him and would be devostated if he left, I think he basically gets loads of stick just because a few pundits decided they dont like him.

Not really a failure, but he hasn't progressed as much as he should have. But that is Arsenals fault.

So what you are saying is Arsenal should ditch their young English talent and fly in foreign imports to replace them! 8 goals and 8 assists in the Prem up to April when he got injured, +1 for England. Theo's not coming back, because he's a top four player (with a top four price tag).

The way things are going Theo should be just right for us in 3 years time unless of course one of our academy stars has come through and is better which is very possible!!!

No I mean the scandalous amounts of money given up average players and their brass necks for wanting away yet have not given anything back , Walcott has won less trophies at arsenal than Dean Hammond .

If theo Walcott is that good , oh and please quoting the modern phenomena of bollocks stats , I remember liverpool signing pennant as he crossed more balls than any other player the previous season , stats are good if you know what to do with them .
I know a good player and a bad one , Walcott is neither he is inbetween , and 20 million after wages does not justify it at all .
If walcottt is a top 4 team player then the premiership is weaker than I thought .

Dean Hammond hasn't won anything at Arsenal though.

Why are you talking about Ali Dia? It's completely irrelevant as far as I can see.

Arsenal would get rid of him because he is in the final year of his contract and as of yet has not signalled an intent to sign a new one.

This is the same situation as with Jay Rodriguez. Burnley cashed in rather than lose him for a minimal fee, or for free, at a later date.

I guess this makes Jay Rodriguez a failure.
