The City manager has set his sights on landing another defender and also plans to recruit a striker and a wide-man by the time the January transfer window is over. Read More http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footba...m-bo-kyung-deal-91466-31431945/#ixzz21Eclbdu7 I wrote an article a week or so ago about the changing messages coming out of CCS. First there was an absolute need to get the new recruits in before pre-season so they could gel with the team, then it was, 'Nothing will be finally decided until the Prem clubs have named their squads', then it was we are looking to get the men we want by the end of the august transfer window. People said everything would be OK, and now this on WOL - the end of the JANUARY window. Is that the same window MM had money to spend in last term and didn't buy anyone because he said it was a stupid lottery with players who were not as good as they thought they were, asking inflated money because they thought teams needed them to push on? And didn't he also say players bought or borrowed in that window showed no loyaty to the club nor displayed the hunger to get promoted? So, what's changed? does Malky suddenly have some magic insight that tells him this term the January window is going to be completely different to ever before? It seems to me that the arrival of all these promised wondeful new players is getting further away not closer.
Knowing the poor standard shown by WOL I'd suggest a sloppy copy and paste exercise combined with a poor proof read. Well I bloody well hope it's my theory that is correct and not the WOL article!
Xsnaggle. Chill. That article was poorly written by Terry Phillips. Im sure he meant this window. Dont they read the articles before publishing? Last summer the squad needed major rebuilding after the mess Dave Jones left. Not the case now. We finished 6th and have a good squad which needs adding to. Mainly players with pace. Im sure players will come in. Plenty of time to the start. What we cant do is panic or we will end up with the likes of Bywater , Lloyd-Samuel , JET. Malky takes his time over signings. He makes sure they are right and not an expensive disaster. There is no way we will have players like Eddie Johnson again.
Hilts! How can you still be beating up Jonesy? Why do you hate the guy so much? I'm starting to think there is a lot of bull**** coming out of the club at the moment and I am beggining to wonder about the real reasons why recent potential signings have'nt been completed. I am beggining to think Malky is working with one arm twisted behind his back.
I dont hate Jones at all. I think hes a rubbish manager. My opinion is we are still being held back by his mismanagent. Malky is taking his time compared to Jones diving in and handing out large contracts to utter rubbish. Maybe if we didnt have taiwo still on the wage bill and having to pay off the likes of Parkin or had Burke , Matthews , Ledley , Bothroyd under contract or at least had fees for them I wouldnt mention Jones. My opinion is we are still suffering due to his failure. Therefore ill keep mentioning if I want to. Malky im sure has a decent budget. It would be larger but..................
Hilts what you fail to see is Jones did not agree the contracts, the riddler did the contract negotiations and we all know he was rubbish. DJ may not be your favourite manager but to date (FA cup win aside) he's the most successful manager ever from a Cardiff City view point. Not bad considering you believe he's rubbish.
Jones chose the players. With the money he was given a half decent manager would have got us up easily. All about opinions. Mine is hes not the most successful FA Cup aside. Anyway back on topic - i expect players in soon. Hopefully with pace.
The thing is that last year the January window wasn't used for the reasons stated, so why should it be any different this time round? Which means what we don't have by the end of the laon window in September (Or whenever) we aren't going to get. So if we're not strong enough by then we will remain not strong enough and another opportunity wasted. That's what's worrying me!!
What about facts Hilts? I really hope we see movement in the market soon. I am not convinced Etien Velikonja is the answer to our goal scoring problem. Rudiment is one for the future! Sorry at 22-3 he should be producing the goods already, he's a target man at best, not a 25 goal a season man. Young Harris is seen as another one for the future and I sincerely hope he gets some game time to show his stuff. Another 2 wide men also needed.
You guys I feel for. Told all this great news, just to be kicked in the teeth. Hopefully, for you guys, its a mistake and he meant this market.
i wouldnt worry at all snaggle, just a mistake which somehow some monkey at wales online didnt pick up on. there are probably deals in the pipeline that we dont know about.. as for jones, for any manager in the championship the test of success is getting promoted, anything else is nice but not the main objective. he gave it a good go and had a knack of getting undervalued players and polishing them up....but as i've said in the past every season you get managers with less resources doing much better than clubs like us, therefore he was a very good manager as he got us to the top 6, but not near the standard of managers such as holloway, lambert, mcdermott etc.
"I think hes a rubbish manager." I don't like Jones but I don't think he was rubbish was he? Got you to a few finals in his time. Not a wind up but coming from someone who dislikes Cardiff I was was worried about this £100M 'investment' but looking at the lack of activity and the signings already made I'm worried no longer. If I was a Cardiff fan I'd be concerned at the lack of big name signings and an apparent lack of ambition. Judging by the tone of the OP others have the same concerns.
I'm not worried at all, with Malky in Switzerland it was going to be quiet this week. Next week will be brilliant.
Hopefully we have a gem in Malky but I'm not convinced he's the man to get us promoted. He has to produce the goods this season or VT will show him the door. VT has targeted promotion this coming season so Malky is under pressure to succeed. His dealings in the transfer market thus far have not given me much confidence. Miller no where near the goal scoring return that was needed. Rudy on his way to being a fans favourite and could be a decent target man if he can keep fit. Mason, a gem no complaints where he's concerned, definite one for the future. Gunnar, blows hot and cold, squad player. Harris, not seen anything from him yet. Taylor a quality signing Conway not seen enough of him Kiss a squad player noting more Cowie may improve but not convinced of his quality. Turner a good signing, better than what we had in place. Please bear in mind I do not see what you guys see every week so my views may be way off base, your constructive thoughts are most welcome.
big name signings guarantee you one thing, and thats big wages. small teams like blackpool, swansea, burnley and many others have proven that management and teamwork is just as important. the £100m is just a continuation of the money they have already put in, something like £40m but i'm sure others will be better placed to give you a few pointers on that. it will include things like stadium expansion and a new training ground, as well as new players. and finally, success for a championship manager is getting promoted, nothing else, so like i said, a very good manager, but certainly behind the ones i mentioned.
I dont hate Jones at all. I think hes a rubbish manager. Bet you DJ will finish above MM this season...I think he will get wednesday in the top two with the way he has got them playing....
