the way pearce has handled this has been an abomination. how the guy keeps getting jobs is beyond me...
I asked for opinions, I never expected everyone to agree with me, this WILL surprise everyone........but your opinion is a valid as all the others. It's just wrong that's all. ILD OTBC
I'll say it again, there are better players than Giggs and Bellamy. That's what annoys me, they've been picked on sentiment and to keep the welsh happy, whilst Beckham has been overlooked even when other players have been picked on sentiment. Why the hell Ferdinand wasn't in there? Not even been mentioned.
didn't the scottish fa say they didn't want to be a part of it? mind you, he's on standby, so that can't be right! the whole thing has been a farce and pearce is one of the main culprits
Ability wise probably but I don't understand why they were picked over Ferdinand, Holt, Carrick etc. The only reason is sentiment, which makes Beckhams omission look ridiculous. It's just annoyingly contradictory and Pearce hasn't got a clue. All this "footballing reasons" stuff is bollocks
Archery gets a bad press.... its NOT a spectator sport, but is highly skillful and requires significant training commitment & dedication to be good at it and is teh national sport of a few countries. To compare it with darts is frankly stupid and ignorant of what it entails.
Beckham knows how to manipulate the media. I'm not worthy, But . . .. I cannot personally see the love affair with Beckham. He was a decent footballer and now he isn't such a decent footballer. He has no right to go just because he helped with the bid. Thats like saying Ken Livingstone should still be mayor because they won the bid on his watch. I know the political aspects of the Olympics eg nobody is allowed to sell chips in the area because MacDonalds is a sponsor. The most unhealthy bloody food in the world sponsoring a games for athletes! And I guess the presence of Beckham may have attracted a few extra sponsors or voyeurs for the football. But he doesn't look like he's missing many meals and I'm sure he'll get over it. And he will no doubt be there somewhere. Look how magnificently he helped us in his advisory role at the last world cup! The argument about Giggs and Bellamy doesn't really wsh with me. Of course those two with their recent histories are not role models. But I think that hand gets over played. Parents should be role models. Currently, in my humble opinion, as over age players in the squad, they would contribute more than Beckham on the pitch.
Absolutely agree 100% The only reason he picked Micah Richards was a two-fingered salute for not giving him the England job, Richards should never play for England again in my opinion after refusing to be on standby for the Euros and to pick him for the olympics after the attitude he has shown is bollocks if you ask me. Same as Giggs, after the year he has had and the way his role model status has been completely tarnished after being revealed as a complete scumbag it is an absolute joke that he has been selected let alone made captain. He might as well have stuck John Terry and Joey Barton in as well and been done with it. Don't get me wrong I don't fawn over David Beckham and have never thought the sun shone out of his backside, but I certainly like the guy and after all the efforts he put in to lead the olympic bid as our talisman for him to not be picked is an absolutely disgrace if you ask me. Stuart Pearce is an absolute bell-end. I've never liked the bloke and I'm almost certain I never, ever will.
Talking of ignorance, can I just confirm that you are pretty much saying darts players just turn up and be pretty amazing at what they do without any signifcant training, committment or dedication? You try telling that to Phil Taylor (who spends around eight hours a day on the practice oche) and see what kind of response you get
Thought this thread might generate some lively debate! I have to say that I think Beckham has been one of the few players to genuinely show passion, commitment and desire to represent his country over the last 15 years, and for that reason alone I think he should have been selected for the Olympics. We mustn't forget that the Olympics is about as significant as the World Club Championship in terms of stature, and who plays has nothing to do with the importance of the tournament. It is only about sending out a team, and I think that we will be the laughing stock of the world to have not included our one truly global superstar. I personally would have had Beckham's name first on the teamsheet.
Totally agree, most players spend hours on the oche just practicing. totally dedicated to the sport. I played for suffolk under 18's many many years ago when we won the national league beating players like Colin Lloyd and Wayne Mardle on the way, and most players had ability but it was how dedicated you were to put the hours in, i wasn't dedicated enough but i know those guys put in hours and hours of practice and it paid off and they earn a bloody good living from it.
Faster Higher Stronger...........Darts, come on seriously, do me a favour......Fatter Uglier Lazier. Phil Taylor wears trainers ffs! ILD OTBC
Course parents are role models, but if a kid is aspiring to be a footballer than they will look at footballers as role models as well. Don't understand that comment.
so are you saying that there is no archery guys that are overweight? and i presume you **** yourself off over the russian female weightlifers?
I don't care what anyone says, I can't wait for the olympics. I love nearly all the sports and am pleased we have entered the football.
