tipp won handily enough in the end but it was tight for a good while. Mayo beat Sligo but were useless.

Kerry beat westmeath by a point. Kildare beat Cavan in the Seanie Johnston derby
 
They improved a bit in the second half but they will have to improve hugely if they want to keep playing beyond the august bank holiday.
