At the moment the FA are meeting to consider what sanctions to impose on JT in spite of the fact he was found not guilty yesterday! This no doubt will consider what punishment to dish out for the spat he had, late on in the game with Anton Ferdinand! I wonder if they will also be considering what sanctions to dish out to Anton Ferdinand as well, who was giving as good as he got in the so called "handbags" exchange?
Almost certainly not, yet the abuse and intent of Anton was just as vile as anything Terry said, given that he did not make his abuse racist What they should be doing is REALLY stamping out all this abuse that goes on between players. No one minds, a bit of verbals, but its out of control right now. And they should start with the dissent and curses aimed at the refs when decisions go against these oafs . Take a leaf out of Rugbys books and bring in a zero tolerance program for abuse and dissent. Much tougher players than these clowns have respect for referees, because the governing bodies have integrity and the intelligence missing from the FA.
Can the FA afford another monumental faux pas? If they try this on & issue sanctions I reckon JT's & Chelsea's legal teams will have a field day and without taking this too far I would suggest it may have the same kind of implications of the Bosman ruling and change the face of football forever. A bit over the top maybe but if the FA are willing to allow this to be taken out of their hands & into the hands of the court of appeals it is a very dangerous road for them to go down.
So called by who? Whatever you think of the people involved, it was a pretty serious incident surely?
" A bit over the top maybe but if the FA are willing to allow this to be taken out of their hands & into the hands of the court of appeals it is a very dangerous road for them to go down." Regina can't appeal against a not guilty verdict. The evidence has been tested, the verdict given.
"Almost certainly not, yet the abuse and intent of Anton was just as vile as anything Terry said, given that he did not make his abuse racist What they should be doing is REALLY stamping out all this abuse that goes on between players." Well they've set the precedent in the Suarez case by NOT charging Evra even though he admitted starting the confrontation by telling Suarez to "Go fook your sister" (in Evra's third language of Spanish, btw, which was racist in itself) and calling him a "Sudaca", akin, in the hispanic world, to being called a gypo. Can't see how they can charge Anton after that ruling. And terry? as you rightly say, his legal can make hay over the fact that Evra wasn'd charged for the above because it was only an "exclaimation", a figure of speech, and more specifically that Suarez didn't hear the original "your sister" slur anyway. Wasn't both these situations agreed to have happened in the terry case too? Ergo, based on the FA's own precedents, he surely has no case to answer? And as such, surely then Liverpool's legal team have an open and shut case of victimisation against the FA. I so, so hope so. I just can't wait for the FA's one-eyed, biased and corrupt admistrator to suirm like fook over this. Rio X has been reported to the police over his 'choc ice' remark about Cole btw. Karma...
It sounds like Suarez being guilty has taken over your life mate. You mention it at every occasion, write about it all the time. For the sake of your health you really should move on. Your club has and there is less than zero chance of them doing anything to ignite it again as you want. Standard Charted will see to that.
I cannot support my fellow Liverpool fan in this instance. The chances of Liverpool going there again is less than Cameron defecting to Labour. It has been too painful for the club which didn't cover itself in glory. We will leave it alone.
this world has become a very sad place when people are reported to the police for name calling. i shake my head in disbelief and wonder what will come next
LW --I understand where you are coming from! I grew up in an age where a commonly repeated phrase " sticks and stones may break my bones , but names will never hurt me!" We seem to be moving into an era where every word we speak will have to be double vetted before we say it ! The worlds gone crazy!
good job that we have not got little pc screens mounted on our heads that show what we are thinking. yet !!
These screens will be on helmets that FIFA are making compulsory as part of their Technology upgrade next season, along with goal line cameras and microphones to detect swearing. There will be a direct link to the Police computers, and players will be arrested at half time and full time . FIFA and FA officials, will not have to wear the equipment, as it may " affect their ability to be impartial ". This has the full support of Sepp Blatter.
Big brother is watching you! I know this is tongue in cheek CP , but the fear is you may not be that far from the truth!
This is from quotes made at the trial and reported in the press! I am under no illusions about the seriousness of racism, but all this spat has served to do is remind us of the number of emptyheads that are earning big bucks in the PL,. Believe me it goes way beyond Terry and Ferdinand!
They pretty much have to ban them both for a number of games. They have both admitted using offensive and abusive language which is a sending off offence. Since it wasn't heard by the ref it can be dealt with after the event. One of them at least may have also brought the game into disrepute. If the FA doesn't deal with that then they have set a huge precedent. The fact that Terry wasn't found guilty is entirely irrelevant - you don't have to commit a criminal offence to break the laws of the game and warrant a ban
No chance of any legal action. Both players have admitted to language which is a sending off offence. The FA can do whatever they want.
Whatever punishment the FA dish out to these two--its almost certain ,with all the publicity this has recieved, referees will surely be given new instructions over how they tackle offensive language on the pitch! I cant remember players getting carded or sent off for swearing alone, but the FA are conscious the game's reputation has suffered over this! Managers and coaches will have to drill squads into prettying up their dialogue on the pitch!
