No, he was released at the end of his contract - that's why we signed Lewis - so heaton can chose the deal for him. There should be a queue of clubs wanting him.

Ninian - early days still mate. Another 4 weeks or so to the start of our proper season and a lot can happen in that time. Malky brought in most of his 12 signings in a shorter timescale last year having had to start from scratch.

I won't start worrying until August 14th if no one else in by then.

Transfer from which club? He hasn't got one.

If he was in contract and was released or sold then that would be a free transfer.

For there to be a transfer there has to be a transferee and a transferor.

Ninian, that's what I said in my thread "Worried again" but everyone seems to think there is time. yet city keep putting out contradictory messages. I just home there is about to be good news and they are playing their cards close to their chests.
One time they say they want players in for pre-season bonding and the next that they don't expect much activity until late august when the Prem clubs have decided their squads.
They can't have it both ways.
There was money available allegedly in Jan but we didn't sign anyone and I'm getting the same feeling now as then.

"Allowing him to leave for Cardiff" sounds like a free transfer to me. What would happen if QPR or another club come in for him? From the story I reckon Bellamy doesn't want a bit part role and Rodgers has placated with a promise of a free transfer to Cardiff. Well that's my theory.
Would love to see him back as his drive and energy will rub off on the youngsters and experienced players alike.

Bora Da guys........take a look out your window quickly.....its not raining!

Our manager has confirmed yesterday that one of his targets is Anthony Gerrard. Any news your end guys? The rumour doing the rounds...and it is only a rumour mind you.....is that we are both in the chase for Richard Keogh but he is likely to sign for you, thus making AG available. God knows we need a shake up in our defence so I hope we get one or the other!

    Cheers guys.

Anthony Gerrard is amongst the worst defenders I've seen play for Cardiff. He's slow, can't pass and is not a Championship standard player from what I've seen. That said, when on loan to Hull, he was their player of the season so it might be a case of horses for courses. Personally I hope he leaves soon.

I'm with whoops no this one, not a fan of Gerrard. I thought that K9 was a better defender.

Gerrard has plenty of passion but too reckless for me, a red card waiting to happen.

He's also way too easy to pull out of position. He'll hammer out from his centre half position and commit to to challenges leaving huge holes behind him in the middle of the defence. Love his passion and commitment but I too would have prefered K9 be given the chance Gerrard had last season.

He's a useful middle of the road Championship player who got few chances at Reading last season and went out on loan to Millwall. At best, he would be a squad player for us and we look fairly well stocked in the middle of the park, the only possible missing link (other than a couple of speedy wide men) being a box to box midfielder who can score goals.

If it was a choice between him and Lawrence, assuming Lawrence compromised on his wages demands, I would go for Lawrence and he has Prem credentials.

    Not what we want.

2 strikers - one reliable target man who can score like Lambert or Holt and one who can put away chances unlike Miller or Earnshaw. Gestade doesn't impress me.

An experienced and quick winger who can deliver a decent ball. Conway can cross but has little pace. Maybe Harris will be what we need?

Ball winner in the middle of the park, and a decent distributor like Paul Ramsey or Billy Ronson from older days.

    Another full back for cover.

And a few more decent squad players. I understand the subs go back to 7 so that means City need to have decent cover on the bench.

    The sooner the better.

That's because it wasn't a rumour, it was a fact (and not a Forrest FACT).

tbh I wouldn't be too concerned if he did move. Hardly a prolific goal scorer but a good team player all the same. We need a striker who can put the ball in the net.
