bollocks Phil, imo anyone in the midfield can tippy tap and rake up the stats britton had - best in europe my ass - there are better the allen out there, if he wants to go get the best price, there surely are better, cheaper options

Its not about better than Allen dragon even though there will be better out there, Its about what Allen feels and if he feels he has reached the top with swansea then he may feel he needs to go to a bigger club and everything that goes with it to progress......I can totally understand that with any player and manager......they have to try or they may never know how far they can go and if they fail then they fail but if they do well then its a massive life changing achievement...A footballer and manager dont care two hoots when they start out who they play for or manage as the main thing is to get their foot on the ladder and then its up to them how they progress in their chosen career.....Brendan loved it at swansea the same as joe does but if an opportunity arises through their hard work and a big club comes in for them then 99% of players and managers would have to try and test their ability at a higher level.....

Dai that's a good post and fair play to you, I see where your coming from and agree to a point, matter of fact if say Arsenal came in for him, then I'd understand perhaps why Allen would want to go to such a great club, but the way I see it with the likes of Liverpool, Fulham etc, to me he would not be making a move to a higher level, based on football ethics. But lets get a perspective here on how far a player wants to climb the ladder, is it not Playing at the highest level, such as the premiership what players aspire to, and as such are we not here now, with one of the best passing sides in the country? So if the bids do come in, I hope that Jenkins tests the colour of their money, because Britton and Allen will not be easy to replace, and should be viewed as irreplaceable, that way we stand a chance of getting sufficient funds to search for their replacements, as difficult as that may well be!........... <ok>

Your wrong here Musty, and you underestimate how difficult it is for teams to play the way we do, if it was that easy, don't you think others would want to go the Spanish way? How many years did it take Martinez to sort Wigan out? Three season's and they only clicked in the last 8 games, so think you underestimate what Britton and Allen do, as do many Jacks!................... <ok>

Wigan's success at the business end of the season was more down to them changing formation than players finally clicking

Its a good read btw and dont forget we dominated Wolves using a similar formation in the last game of the season, well until it all went pear shaped :)

Yes your right they did have a formation change, though still based on possession and passing, that's what Martinez is all about, still it proves even further, how difficult the task is! Very good read by the way, had to laugh though at Rodgers trying to copy, withought thinking of our defencive frailties with three at the back! Wasn't Monk playing in the three? that surely makes just two at the back! Wolves where unlucky not to win!...............

<laugh>.............Dream on, he'll go to a bigger team like Spurs, or Arsenal!...............

'Better' not 'bigger' haha...

Spurs can't take all of our midfield targets!

EDIT: Would you take Raheem Sterling or another viable player on loan as part of the deal? Just hypothetical, haven't got BR on facebook chat right now or anything (I wish).

I heard he's only a hot potato in the sack!........<laugh>.......On a serious note, I have a feeling we are not going to do much more developing of other teams players (Caulker), seems Laudrup wants a smaller more compact, but higher quality group of Swansea players, and if we do take a loan player, it will be with the option to purchase!................. <cheers>

No ,thats not to say that I wouldn't want Stirling here , good prospect for the future and more about him than Macrechan imo. I'm interested in what other "viable "player you maybe referring to ?

We don't really have many when you go past those that would be first XI.

Cole, Adam, possibly Downing... Then younger players like Adam Morgan (striker), Flanagan or Sterling. Both would be good at Swansea I think. Our best prospect is arguably Suso, but he's too young to loan (yet he's setting the U19's on fire for Spain).

Oh, and Shelvey/Spearing, but I expect Shelvey to stay.

Adam ,one trick pony, not our type of player (or yours I would think :cheesy:)

Cole I used to think he was waiting to blossom but time's running out for him now .

Shelvey ,one for the future , although he got bit wound up at our place <whistle>

Spearing not better than Joey

The others you mentioned I can't comment on

Adam looks like we found him in a pub. Occasionally plays like it too.

Don't start me on Joe Cole.

Shelvey has a lot of promise, but yes, was lost in a two man midfield against you lot (more down to Kenny probably).

Adam Morgan is a pretty decent finisher, could do well at a Championship/lower PL club soon enough. Still 18 I think. Flanagan would do well for you or whoever he ends up being loaned to (I fully expect him to be loaned out as we have Johnson and Kelly).

Suso would be super as a loanee for you, if it becomes possible... Just looked and he is old enough, at 18. Made his first appearance for us aged 16 in a pre-season game and has looked like our best youth player for two years now. Would fit like a glove in the passing style you play.

Sounds good , so good in fact I've got to ask will any of those above have a look in with Rodgers ? Flanagan played in the 1st team early last year ? would be cover for N Taylor but with have a few options there already .

Adam looks more and more like leaving, if the offer is right. He stays then he'll probably have a squad role.

Joe Cole I really hope leaves, and I think we're trying to get his wages off the books (see Kuyt, Maxi). Maybe West Ham will take him back.

Morgan is, right now, our fourth choice striker, but depending on transfers could either play reserves or go on loan. He keeps scoring goals, so I'd like to see him tested on loan.

Flanagan is decent, prone to a rash challenge, but was super during Kenny's half season, when he made his first ever appearance against City (we won 3-0) and when we drew against Arsenal... He'd take a lot of benefits from first team football. I understand Rangel (??) is a fixture in your side, but Flanno is a tidy passer and looks to make driving runs... Would perhaps be a useful loanee for you or someone else. This season he was found positionally off a few days, showing he needs first team experience somewhere to progress.

I'd love to see Suso go on loan to Swansea... could work really well for both parties. Shouldn't get worked up about teenage prospects but he really does look special... If you've never seen him play he's well documented on YouTube... bit of a cult following around him and Sterling from our younger/more idealistic fans.

In regards to Suso, I have never seen him play, but the way you are raving about him sounds like Chelsea fans and McEachran last season. With respects I very much doubt we will take on a young inexperienced player in such an important position.
